Two Reservation Numbers - Link in MDE?

I made reservations for two rooms at POFQ as part of a BB offer. One is in my name, one is in DH's. He's linked to my MDE account and I can manage his stuff etc. (or I could on the last trip, and assume I still can) My in laws are joining us as well as our son for our upcoming November trip. I'll be managing all the in laws FPPs and dining (they don't have smart phones and they aren't interested in planning).

Do I just log into MDE and enter both confirmation numbers under my account? What about the in laws? Can I get them set up without setting up separate MDE accounts for them? My son is already showing from a trip in 2013 so I don't think I'll need to do anything with him, or maybe I do?

I'd like to see everything in one place as my DH doesn't do any of the changing or planning either. I guess I'm just confused. Just the two of us was easy.

Just log into DME and start linking reservations to your account in the Reservation section. It should let you see them all, and allow you to make ADRs and/or FP+ reservations that are tied to any/all reservations. Then, just link everyone as Friends and Family.

Note that if you make ADRs, only the person who actually made them can cancel or modify them, but everyone can see them if they're part of that reservation.

Thanks. So I don't need any new MDE accounts for the in-laws?

If they're not likely to travel to WDW on their own later, you can just create them in your profile for this trip. Especially since they won't be accessing the information on their own.

Just be very careful when linking all the tickets and reservations, to make sure the right things are tied to the right people. That can get messy if a ticket is linked to the wrong person, and you can't make FP+ reservations.

Disney doesn't prefer this method, as they want everyone to have an account, but it makes no sense for toddlers or elderly people without smart phones (or another solo trip planned) to have their own accounts right now.

I'll give it a go tonight. Thanks I appreciate the help. I may have another question, or two.

Also, make sure you enter names and ages correctly the first time. It's a pain to have Disney fix them. They have to delete the wrong "person" and start over.

I'm sure there are people on the boards who have more first-hand experience at what you're doing, and they'll chime in. I just know the info I've shared from lots of reading, and through other stories.

Definite get set up with your Friends and Family list first, before you start linking anything. Make "managed by you" sub-profiles for people who won't need to have control over their own profiles. Others who want to manage their own accounts should create their own and then link as a Friend/Family.

After all that's done, then you can start linking reservations. I believe when you link a resort reservation it'll ask you to assign a lead guest on it, as well the other people in that reservation. That's where having the profiles pre-made becomes useful.

And if you make a managed-by-you profile for someone who later wants to manage their own (an adult who wants to manage their own, or a younger teen who gets older and wants to "take ownership" of their own profile), you just have to click the "Invite to plan and share" icon next to their name. It'll send an invite and once they accept they'll inherit everything about their profile.

That's actually what I've done with my friends. I'm the planner of the group, so I created a number of sub-profiles under my log-in for each person for when I book our trip. Eventually I'll send Invite requests and let them take over their profiles while remaining linked to them.
