So, who else is going to watch this? I'm certainly glad that with all the changes the channel has made over the past few years that this is one thing they have not messed around with. It's apparently the 20th Anniversary for the marathon, so that's neat.

I love The Twilight Zone. Still one of the best-written shows in television history. And a grand experiment.

Can you imagine how much work it was to film a completely unique stand-alone story each week, with A-list writers and actors/actresses? Amazing. Rod Serling was a genius.

I'm less inclined to watch it on SyFy these days since Netflix has the remastered HD versions available for streaming, but this truly is one of the most groundbreaking, innovative shows ever produced. Even today, the stories are mostly ahead of their times.

As @prberk correctly stated, Rod Serling was a genius.

Indeed. He managed to gather a brilliant crew of writers, directors, and actors.

And, I do have to say, the Disney imagineers did an excellent job creating his image and style in The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror. I seem to remember that they actually had an actor play him and mix in live voice and image from a show that featured an elevator.

Anyone here know the full details on how they created the Serling intro to Tower of Terror? What part of it, if any, used real footage or audio of Rod Serling?

The line "Tonight's episode is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. This as you may recognize..." is taken straight from "It's a Good Life", with the bit about the service elevator provided by a sound-a-like.

Hmm. Thanks. I will have to look for that episode sometime. Whoever did the acting to create the new material was spot on, and the editing was well-done. Of course, in true Walt Disney style, I think that the surrounding environment helped the illusion. (Walt had once said, I am told, to change the trick in the movies/attractions frequently enough so that it is changed before the audience catches on to that particular trick. Sort of like effective use of old parlor tricks. Clearly an idea used to great effect in the Haunted Mansion.)
