Twice upon a Christmas

:) I rented Twice upon a Christmas last night and it wasn't too bad. I have to admit it was has hard to except Mickey and Company in 3D, but they did a good job. This is not Pixar quality, but a good first effort. The five stories are nice and I did laugh. I don’t know that I would run out and add this DVD to my collection, but it is definitely worth a viewing. There are five stories and each of them are OK. The best stories feature Mickey and Donald. This is a good first step for Disney’s 3D, but I still have to say that it may be a wise move to keep Pixar in the mix.

Anyone else get a chance to see it?

I saw the commercial for it on tv but didn't realize it was a 3D movie. The commercial looks cute and I was planning on buying it. Maybe I should rent it first?

We rented this last night for our little boy (6) and he watched it 3 times in a row. That is not common for him. I will watch it later today but in his opinion it was a great movie :)

I thought they did a terrific job -- with the minor exception of the 'Christmas Maximus' bit. From a creative perspective, a comparison to Pixar is not really a fair one (IMO). This, as with most current Mickey animations, was never intended to be a $100M theatrical release.

While there is certainly some room for improvement on character modeling and rigging, I felt that CGI enabled the production team to explore textures, lighting, and effects that the simple designs of Mickey and Co. played very well against. The music was wonderfully festive, the stories did have heart, and the overall package won me over. Not perfect, but quite good.

Do check it out! :)

CGI was excellent -- looks like the same folks who did PhilarMagic did it. :)

Is it just me or are DTV releases getting better and better.... :lookaroun

I finally saw the movie. I fell asleep:o in parts. It just wasn't as interesting as all that. For me it wasn't the digital animation that was bad as much as the storyline. It's as if they just put something out there for christmas sales (and why not?). My son loved it though and I guess that it was really for the kids anyway. Despite weak storylines the values/messages from the movie are really good.

From the commercials, the CGI looked absolutely horrific. Wouldn't spend my money on it to prove it was any better, though.
I'm absolutely with you on this one. I went on the site to take a look at some clips. Huey, Dewey, and Louie are just scary. I'm glad to hear the story is halfway decent for kids though.
