Tusker House breakfast or lunch?

We are a family of 4 kids aged 10 & 3. Would you do the character breakfast or lunch at Tusker House? I am thinking we would get an early reservation for breakfast and then hit the park until early afternoon before heading home to the pool or getting to the park for rope drop and then having a late lunch before heading home for the pool. Any recommendations?

We usually do a 10:30 breakfast reservation. This allows us to often get Kilimanjaro Safari and/ or another ride in before crowds get heavier. It also allows is to enjoy the breakfast and a bit of the lunch menu as they are changing over to lunch during our reservation.

Breakfast, always breakfast! Either try for the earliest breakfast or a little later (and hit the safari right before). You want to get on the safari as early as possible.

If you get the earliest breakfast time available, if you time it right, you can be the first to ride on the Safaris. My wife and I have done this twice and have both times got on the first Safaris vehicles. The animals are almost all out and active at that time of the morning.
We do the same thing! Great breakfast too.

We did the same last trip. The breakfast was great and no line at the K-Safari was excellent.

Both are good and both offer characters meeting.

I would do either a pre-opening Breakfast to be one of the first at the Safari or a late lunch (2:30pm) to be at the Safari right as the parade is going (the parade cuts off the access to most of the park so less people will be going to the Safari).

We prefer breakfast at Tusker House over the lunch due to the seasoning of the food (lunch) and the "jungle juice" (breakfast). The character interaction is wonderful and we have always had great service.

Breakfast, hands down. We also like to make our ADR for 10:30 so we can do some stuff in the park beforehand. We treat as a brunch so we are not hungry for lunch and just grab a quick dinner later in the day. I think it is the best breakfast buffet on property; it has a great variety of food. Characters are great and the parade is lots of fun. Love that Jungle Juice.

Breakfast before park opening. However, keep in mind that if you are planning on leaving the restaurant at 8:55am to be the first one to Safari or E:E before park opening at 9am, you may find yourself on an unexpected line because (at least when we were there in 2012) they dropped the rope before 9am. We heard throngs of people passing the restaurant at 8:45am and looked outside to see why, and when we saw the masses heading towards rides we thought we would get to first, we wrapped up our meal immediately and ran out.

Thanks guys. We have taken your advice and gone for the breakfast! I have managed to get a reservation for 0805 when it's a scheduled 9am opening

Thanks Jill will bear this in mind. :)

Tusker House is amazing at any meal. It was less crowded at lunch for me in December. We got lots of time with all the characters. The outside looked crowded but the inside was not.
