Turnstiles at park opening

Hopefully someone will confirm this.

Do all turnstiles for a Disney park open at the same time? I often see a turnstile with loads of people waiting at it but then others with nobody waiting.

Obviously being a Brit I find it reassuring being in the same line as everyone else but I am wondering if I should go and wait at another turnstile!

People are sheep and will often just follow the person in front of them. The centrally located turnstiles tend to be busiest, while the ones just to the right and left are much less busy. I think people are unaware that they're open, despite the fact that there are often CM's beckoning people over.

Anytime I see a crowd at the turnstiles I just walk to the side and almost always find a shorter (often non-existent) line.

It's been a long time since I made it to a park pre-opening, so I'm a bit hazy on opening procedures, but yes, all turnstiles that will be opening open at the same time. I presume that all of them show the red X until they actually open. If a turnstile doesn't have a line at all, look to see if there's a CM stationed there, and you can ask them if they'll be opening. (Chances are it will)

You can also look to see if the top of the turnstile is covered by a blue cover, which means that it will not be opening.

Lastly, after opening make sure to look for turnstiles that have the green arrow on them. Often an open turnstile will be totally ignored.

The Sheep Syndrome .

Ba,Ba,Black sheep, yeh, spot on.Funny how people act the same way. Here's a tip. When the park opens at say MK. Go in a retrograde motion and you'll find it much quieter to get on the attractions.Why.? I don't know.:hammer:

In theory yes. But just the ones that will be open at park open. Personally I have never seen all the turnstiles open at say Epcot. But people tend to line up at the ones that have CMs already at them, or near them. Just in case they choose not to open that one at start. Frequently CMs will show up to the other turnstiles as it gets closer to park opening, just watch to see and then shift to the one that a CM shows up at just before open. No one wants to be in a lane that doesn't open and then have to get at the back of a long line.

They open whatever they have staffed and whatever is operating. Been at several parks that had say 6 CM operating two turnstiles each, however if the computers aren't operating or if the guests aren't putting in their tickets correctly, it will jam up. And then everyone makes way towards the line that is moving.

What you might be seeing are the turnstiles that are open only for people with early breakfast ADRs. (Advanced Dining Reservations) If people have an early breakfast reservation at Crystal Palace at MK or Tusker House at AK, they have a line of their own.

I have also seen then seperate people for the EMH in the am so only those who are staying on property can use some and the rest have to wait behind the rope waiting for the rest of them to open when the park opens for all guests.

Thank you for the responses. Im going to try standing at an empty one next time as long as it has no cover. Whats the worst that can happen!
