Hey,

I've been searching but with no luck in finding what I think was a picture on these boards a while ago (at least a year?) that showed the tunnel between Pop Century and Carribean Beach. How close are the two resorts exactly? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

I've never heard of such a thing...

But now that you mention it, maybe I have...

I think I know the photo you speak of. Not sure about the tunnel though.

I've never heard about any tunnel (doesn't mean it doesn't exist). The 2 resorts are very close together, so it is possible such a thing could exist.

Not sure this has anything to do with it but... A few years back, they were doing extensive construction/digging in and around the Caribbean Beach Resort. I was told at the time that it was a resolution for water drainage. I could be way off from what your talking about but they did have some pretty big pipes going in. Just offering this up... :veryconfu

I remember seeing a entrance to a tunnel while driving from the lobby to the 50's parking area. It's easy to see if you just look out to the right side of your car on the way to the 50's building.

What would be the purpose of having a tunnel between the two resorts? I don't understand what the benefit would be.

Hey,

No specific reason other then I may be staying there and this popped into my head when I was looking at pictures of the resort.

I know that the two resorts share the same manager and I guess share facilities?

That would be a great reason for the tunnel... all the mousekeeping golf carts can stay off the main roads! :)

because inquisitive minds want to know!!! :hammer:

Yes, there is a connecting tunnel between the two Resorts, but I think it may be more for security or maintenance access than anything...it's easier than taking the normal roads b/t the two Resorts. There is absolutely, positively no guest access, though :) Just one of those useless Disney facts.

We stayed in Pop Century in January. The resorts are very close and it would actually make sense that they would have a tunnel for convenience purposes, but with the road, they would have had to have planned that quite a bit in advance.

I believe that they use it for Housekeeping and Managerial purposes. I believe the resorts share a housekeeping fleet (although it was enlarged for the Pop addition).

Thank you for the definate word on that  . Like I said you can see the entrance while driving from the Classic Years lobby to the 50's building parking lot. It's really obvious, just a shame I didn't take a picture.

Whoever said they don't share facilities doesn't know what they are talking about.

The two resorts have a common area. Common training, horticulture, admin, cafeteria, storage, maintenance, etc. etc. etc.

The tunnel doesn't connect the two resorts exactly... just connects Pop to the common area. It's not like a "tunnel" either. It's a pass-through under the main entrance road for pargo traffic. It's much safer and was a thoughtful design. (Unlike the same situation at Yacht/Beach/Boardwalk where the pargo area is about 10 feet from the guest area and out in the open)

Hope this clears it up. You can actually see the opening from the 50's parking area I believe. Cast only.

Thank you everyone for the info, you all answered my question! Like some have said it's one of those useless facts, but what's to loose by asking questions.
