Trying to Rent Points at AKL

I'm currently trying to rent points to stay in a standard studio at AKL for September 2017. I'm using David's. That room is currently available, but David's doesn't have anyone with the points right now so I'm on a waiting list. My questions is, should I stay on this waiting list hoping to get a standard studio at AKL or should I try staying somewhere else? I really want to stay at AKL this trip, but I don't want to sit on this waiting list and then everything fills up. I've never rented points before and don't know much about when things usually book up for DVC. Anyone have any advice or suggestions?

Standard studio? I don't forsee it as being a huge problem. Especially if you don't care if its Jambo or Kidani. For what it's worth, I just spot checked AKV for 7 months from now, so June 4-11, and Kidani has availability in both standard and savannah view, and Jambo has savannah view. I'd hang on for a few months, SSR or OKW should have openings if you get antsy by like month 8 and decide to switch.

If an AKL studio is a "must have" and the cost isn't prohibitive, you could book one at rack rate through Disney and cancel if a David's member shows up with points for you to rent. (Just keep an eye on the no-penalty cancellation dates for your booking.) Alternatively, check with the other reputable DVC rental places (e.g., DVC rental store) and see if they have members with the points you need. Just be sure that if one comes through for you, you immediately cancel all other rental requests with other agencies.

FWIW, I know AKL standard studios are supposed to be "easy" to book, but we tried to do it at 11+ months out through David's and another agency for our upcoming trip, and neither one could get one for us, either, even on a lower-crowd week...
