True or not about hand stamps?

I was told by a CM three years ago the return stamps are meaningless and CM's would not prevent you from entering the park without one as long as you have a valid ticket. Is that true? If so, why bother? Also, what is the stamp material? What happens if someone is allergic to the stuff? Finally, do any of you have a collection (pics that is) of the hand stamps?

The official policy is to not let someone back in unless they have both their ticket and a handstamp. This is to prevent someone from entering the park, handing their ticket to someone just outside the gate, then having that person enter the park with the same ticket.

It sounds like it's one of those policies that is ignored or selectively enforced by many CMs just because it's not worth the hassle of turning people away.

With the AP, I don't need a handstamp since we have the biometric system, but if you have a Multi-Day pass, You never know if you will get a CM who will check for one, so you might as well get it anyways...

I've never been asked to show a handstamp when I've used my Disney AP. It's happened a couple times at Universal though, even with the photo on the darn thing.

i always wondered what would happen if you went to the hotel went swimming in the pool/had a shower and your stamp washed off?

I was let in the park with just a handstamp once. My ticket had gotten soaked, and I threw it out. I told the CM what happened, and they let me in.

My friend Jason was also let in with just his handstamp after he left his bag at the Train Station.

I find it hard to believe that a Cast Member would let you in the gates with JUST a hand stamp - and if my ticket got soaked, I'd take it to Guest Services to get a new one rather than just throw it out - if I were a turnstile cast member, i'd NEVER trust someone who didn't have a ticket at all. Perhaps they were just new or lazy - either way they're a bad employee.

In the last 3 trips down there, I haven't had my stamp looked at one single time. I've park-hopped like mad before, and when you shoot that ticket thru the turnstile, it's supposed to show up on the screen that you're re-entering a park - but they never actually look at your hand.

I'm sure it has to do with individual laziness, and that company policy still says to check hand stamps. If my ONLY job were to stand there and make sure that only people come in who have both a ticket and a hand-stamp, I'm going to check them both. I guess too many people are just lazy, pathetic workers......such a shame in today's society.

Well he did. Granted, it happened when I was younger and it had been pouring all day. It was a one day park hopper, and I threw it out, and I explained to the guy what happened and he let me in. I'm sure, that 90 percent of the time, they would not let you in.

One thing I never understood with my annual pass is: sometimes (mostly at DisneyQuest) if our ticket goes through, but the finger thing isn't working, so it spits the ticket back out. The CM comes over, looks at the name on the back, and says "Are you (insert name here)?" and then she lets me right through. I don't know what that is trying to prove, because even if I found that pass, I could say that my name was the same on the back.

Ah, ok - younger - makes sense now, heehee. If you were like 16 or something, I'd hope you'd be smart enough to hang on to your ticket after the rain, haha, but I'll give you a break now.

The smart question would be: "What is your name?" Then you'd have to remember what the name was on the ticket if you stole it or found it, and most of the time, crooked people don't remember the info that's on the item that doesn't belong to them:drevil:

Exactly, if they were to ask that, it would make sense, but most of the time they just will say "Patrick?" and I just say "yep".

As for the ticket thing, yea...this whole year, I have never had to replace my ticket, although I had to replace the protective cover thing alot.

On the complete oppisite side, I use an AP to enter the parks. I was at AK, and left the park for 10 minutes to meet someone out front. When I tried to go back into the park, the CM gave me a hard time about not getting a hand stamp. I had never had to get a handstamp with my AP before, but I guess that if you're entering the same park twice in the same day, you would need it.

A hand stamp is never needed for any admission media that requires the finger scan.

it was this one time. It wasn't any other time though, and that's why it caught me off-guard.

Not all CM's know what they are doing (or should do) at any given time.;)

I saw someone try this last time I was over. The "guest" was yelling abuse at the CM because they had been told they required a ticket along with the hand stamp. I don't know what the outcome was, a manager was called in and took the abusive "guest" to one side. After that I was long gone.

i've had an AP for a long time and have never been asked for a handstamp, but i still get them on the way out of the parks...its mostly for nostalgia and because i like to see what the stamp says when i go to another park and ride a dark ride.

back in '98, i had an annual pass and we went to mgm just for a minute or two (we wanted to buy something at one of the shops) and then hopped over to epcot. Our AP's didn't work at the turnstile and we had to show ID to the CM. The cm said that the turnstile "flags" you if you've been in one park and then go to another park in less than 30 minutes (or something like that). Once we showed ID, he let us in with no problem. That's the ONLY time that's ever happened. Don't know if its the same now or what the policy officially was/is.

I'll second that. At universal the security guard sees us leave to eat at Hard Rock Cafe then we come back show our picture but yet are still asked to see the stamps. Oh well that was a bit off topic.
