True or false, Maleficent overlooking the carousel?

Someone mentioned that once in awhile at Disneyland Maleficent can be seen looking out a window of a building near the carousel? I'm assuming she is not looking out from the castle?

Is this true? Is there anything similar at other parks?

Yep...it's the Evil Queen, not Maleficent.

I think her opening the curtains and looking out also has something to do with Guests touching a metal apple outside in the queue.
Or not...though I could have sworn I read that somewhere...

Paris has it too:

It's a great little detail - what makes Disney Disney. Sadly, WDW has also removed similar little effects like the animal heads in Mile Long Bar and - I believe - the AA Pixar lamp.

I believe that the Luxo Jr lamp removal was part of the lawsuit settlement Pixar-Disney made with the Luxo lamp company, though I'm not sure we ever got confirmation.

It's also possible that they had technical issues, as the figure was a prototype that used electrical actuators instead of hydraulic like most modern AAs. It may not have worked as well in its outdoor location as it did indoors.

yeah it's at DL. The evil queen is above the Snow White dark ride (as pictured a few posts up) but it doesn't overlook the carousel. I don't believe anyone in the queue triggers her movement. I was sitting there waiting for her to show up so I could snap a pic . It was pretty consistent every 10 or 15 seconds or so...

So is she an animatronic? For some reason I thought you all were talking about a live character randomly opening a window..

i read that luxo used the same technology they use in hopper in 'it's tough to be a bug'.

i would have loved to have seen luxo, and the queen. the queen will almost certainly be gone when i go next. sad times.
