Tripods

What is the rule now concerning bringing tripods into the parks? I read somewhere that now they have to be inside a bag? Is this true? I've never in all my years of going to the parks had a problem getting in with my tripod, and have never had it in a bag.

The requirement is that when collapsed, they can fit into a typical bag. They don't need to actually be in a big, just have the ability to do so.

I have a lightweight tripod that straps to my Lowpro camera backpack. In February, I had no issues with security, and it easily supported by dSLR and telephoto.
