Trip Report May 1-9

Just back from a great 8 days at the World.

Weather was absolutely perfect. 90+ and sunny every day.

Crowds were definitely heavier than in past trips...but manageable...

We have a timeshare at the Sheraton Vistana Villages and this is our 4th trip in 4 years all during the 1st week of May, myself, wife and two daugthers 8 and 6.

Friday May 1: Arrived late in the afternoon, stayed at the Swan as our timeshare is Sat-Sat. Dinner at Biergarten in Epcot, as usual, very good, great atmosphere, food is fine, beers were BIG and COLD. Were able to see the Epcot Fireworks from our balcony that evening. Great start.

Sat. May 2: Rope Drop at DHS, right to TSM to FP for later, great ride, girls loved it, crowds were thick but very manageable. Muppt 3d, Honey I shrunk the kids playground, great movie ride. I did RnR by myself, checked into Vistana Villages, pool time...Epcot and China for dinner, our first time, food was just OK, probably cross China off our list of places to eat...Girls got first shot at KP Adventures and I have to say they LOVED IT, what a great idea, very well done, ended up doing all 7 during the week.

Sun May 3: MK all day, all the rides, Thunder Mountain 3 times...crowds seemed very manageable. PP Flight was 40 minutes, Pooh was 30, otherwise nothing more than 20, Buzz Lightyear was 15 minutes...great day...pool...Epcot again in the evening, finally got on Soarin (my girls favorite ride). CS for dinner.

Mon May 4: AK, safari, Nemo Musical, EE by myself, Jungle trek, Planet watch, again, more crowded than on other trips but still very manageable....Dinoland with the girls, Tusker House for lunch (one of our fav's)...pool again in the PM...Dinner at Raglan Road was very good, would recommend.

Tues May 5: Pool Day...very very hot...did go to Epcot in the early evening, more KP adventures, Mexico for Dinner. We are usually big fans of Mexico but this year were disappointed in our meals...

Wed May 6: MK again, Thunder Mountain 2 more times, my girls may have a new favorite ride....Tom Sawyer Island, Haunted Mansion, SW Scary Adventure...more pool time in the pm and then Luau at Poly...which was good...but we all think Hoop De Doo was better..

Thurs May 7: Epcot Rope Drop...Soarin THREE times, including twice in a row...didn't have to leave the ride...Aquarium, Nemo Ride, TT with Crush...more KP Adventures...pool...then back to Japan for dinner at Teppan Edo which was very good.

Fri. May 8: Back to MK for Jungle Cruise, Small world, Philarmagic, MK was JAMMED...biggest crowds of the week by far...monorail to Epcot for TT and Spaceship earth...sat in the front of the monorail on the way back to the parking lot(girls love doing that)...Dinner at Jiko, which is a final night tradition and NEVER disappoints..the Tanglewood Chicken I had was the best meal all week.

EPCOT rope drop is a very good one...Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald and more....a countdown...nicely done...

DHS, was pretty lame to be honest...just a quick countdown without characters...

what is a rope drop?
It's each morning when the park actually opens to guests and the CMs, characters etc count down and 'drop the rope' to let the queues of people in. The different parks do different things .. singing, dancing, choosing guests to help etc. Then there's usually (always) a mad rush for the most popular attractions!

Thanks!

With all the times we have been to the park, we have only seen this in AK.

Maybe we just need to get up earlier.

Thanks for the report ~ glad you had a great trip!

Your week grabbed up all the beautiful weather! I was there the week after you and we had bunches of rain! I thought the crowds were manageable too. May is such a great time to visit. :)
