Trip Report - 8.16.02-8.19.02

ey all, just got back

What a great tie, Fastpass really was working well. Just want to address the MK crane...it is jet black (very tall) but is turned away during the day, and almost impossible to see at nigt.

All the parks were very clean. Mk was vey busy all days, even Monday. Space Mountain has new seat backs, which are nice and soft and work well. I think Alien Encouter has added afew light effects, like glowing green eyes and some impulse lights and other things to help dramatize it. Have some good pics of space mountain withlights on, if someone wants to email me for pics, unless Steve wants to post em.

AK- Sorry, but Prim. Whirl is terrible. It looks rather haphazard and is rather dull. Dinosaur is still great and so is the water rapids. Not many lines, so good deal.

Epcot- I abslutelyloved the Tapestry of Dreams as di my fiance, what a genius idea!!!! TT still long lines, and MS looks nice t night.

MGM-Everything here was great, very short lines, I think we rode Rock N Roller Coaster 10 times...I hope that ride makes Universal envious...lol...it is great. Tower of Terror, great as usual.

Magical Moment Pins- I brought these alon and they were fun seeing what sets them off, here is a few things- Tower ofTerror, Frontierland, Great Movie Ride, Mexico River of Time Ride, all parades, Spaceship Earth, Alien Encounter.

I hope they sell those lightup banners for 100 YOM on ebay when it is over, they are very nice. Just got back, I wll add some later what I remember, any questions, ask!!!!!!!!

I believe for a while, at least thru the 100 Years of magic....I was really good advertisement, b/c people dont realize the different light patterns these pins do...for example...in the Tower Of terror boiler room, they flash really fast one after another like lightning......in the great Movie Ride during the Fantasia scene, they only flash blue....really neat!!!!!

Thanks for the 411 - I'm still hoping to be there in time....I really want to be at the World in time for the F & W festival, so that time-frame will cover me for the 100th!

by the way, as for these light up pins, I think they work like this....you pass the sensor and it sets off a sequence....some sequences are very long and others short....for example, in the boiler room of the tower of terror, I was in there for like 3 minutes and then I sat in the elevator and it was still going off....I figured the boiler room had many sensors...well the second time in there, i was waiting for like 7 minutes and it stopped going off a while....and you do need a line of sight, becuase it went off on Thunder Mountain once on the lift, and not the next.

To add to this report, anybody who works there and knows the CM (a tall skinny male, with brown hair) who does the talking trash can in Tomorrowland, he is superb. It was in the high 90's and he was doing an awesome job entertaining everyone and not killing the kids trying to turn over the can!!!!!! We walked with him and watched him for 15 minutes!!!!!

Also, Disney made gorgeous signage banners for the 100 years of magic, the silver LED banners...I hope they go on sale on Ebay after the celebaration!!!!!

That's nice that they tried to hide the crane. But those of us going the first two weeks in September will see it during the day because they'll do work during the day. Since I'm going the second week in Sept., I'm hoping they'll be done by then.

While I was up there, I was also thinking of the thread on Castle Lighting......it has many strobe lights on it, that are used before daytime shows and before the fireworks....they are all over the towers....looks really nice. I was so pleased with the overall appearance of parks, but the hours that changed this week are not the best. I know is is a cost measure, but 8:30 is early for mid august.
