Trip Report 11/9/04

This is my first trip report! Yay! :sohappy:

Anyway, went to MK and Epcot this afternoon/evening. Got to MK at 3:00. Crowds not heavy, but they were definitely there, especially since I got there right as the afternoon parade was about to start. Do'h. However, wait times for most rides was slim to nil.

Nothing of too much interest to report, really. Stitch was open today, so I rode it for the first time (5 minute wait). I enjoyed it, until the end. I agree--it was a copout.

I, of course, went on Carousel of Progress. Where is this information about closing CoP once Stich opens coming from? I asked a couple CMs who were working CoP and they said that it wouldn't be closing. However, these are CMs, so take it with a brick of salt. :lookaroun

The CoP CMs looked really stressed out when I left the theater, I think it had something to do with the fact that the show got interrupted three times. The first time was a warning saying the theater was going to move (in the middle of the 20's segment! It never did.) A second time with a CM coming on saying, "Please do not videotape", and then a third time with the same CM saying, "Please stay seated." I wanted to kick the butt of the responsible guest.

Rode Space Mountain--just as good as always, then went over toward Philharmagic. I love that one, but bypassed it today, as I didn't feel like standing outside the theater today. Don't take that to mean it was busy or anything; it was a next show, you're in wait. I tried looking through the 20k and IASW walls, but nothing. Drat. :brick:

Went over to HM, it's also as good as ever, however, the past couple times I've ridden it (namely last Wednesday and today), it's been stopping a lot in the ride. That rather stunk, especially cause it made me miss the next showing of the Hall of Presidents. Last Wednesday was neat though because it stopped in the graveyard. Gave me a chance to really look around.

By this point it was around 4:45, so I decided to leave MK to head over to Epcot on the monorail so that I could get some FW stuff in before it closed. Rode SSE. It's about the same except for one thing--in an attempt to cover-up the AT&T logo on the classroom projector (as you "return to Earth), they just aimed the projector further to the right, cutting off the AT&T logo, but leaving the image off-center. Really bugged me. I hope that was a temporary glitch and not something that will remain until they get a new video sans logo.

I then proceeded to M:S. There was absolutely no wait for either the standby or the singles line, so that was nice. Man, I love that ride, though the briefing videos get a little old...

TT was, of course, packed. 45 minute wait today (I think) with 20 minutes for singles. They realllly need to do something about that. But that's just beating a dead horse. :hammer:

JIYIWF was next. Made a CM reminisce about the old JII ride. He said, "I think we all miss it" when I said that I missed that ride. Nice to see that I'm not the only one.

I then went over to the Land pavilion to eat dinner at the SS food fair. Wait time on the boat ride was 20 minutes. I think that's a good thing--it means they won't be getting rid of it anytime soon. I talked with a cast member about closing the pavilion. She sounded sad that they were going to do away with the balloons, too. (I must be cruel and like making CMs sad about Epcot rides. Next time I go back, M:S CMs will hear it about Horizons. :fork:) I'm hoping to be back in early December, so I'll see the pavilion one more time before God knows what's done to it.

From here, it's WS time. Went over to the UK to watch the British Invasion. They're fantastic; my favorite Epcot live show. Sadly, today they were a little off, but I think they were just tired. They do a lot of performances, and they had one more before the night was over. It's classic Beatles, though, so I'll take it.

Saw France and met a Norweigan CM (she works at Norway--go figure!). I looove Impresions du France. The music is so great.

We then walked over to TAA--holy cow, that show is so over the top. I'll take the HoP any day over that. I actually felt a little embarassed because she had never seen it...heh. Ah well, it's still entertaining.

We parted ways (she headed home on the CM bus), and I stayed for Illuminations. I hadn't seen that show in about 3 years, and I forgot how good it was, though I'm not a fan of the globe thing--I think it goes on too long. The music is fantastic, though, of course.

I think the funniest thing is, though, that I found out if you look young and are coming to the parks alone, most everyone's first inclination is College Program. Am I the only one crazy enough to go to WDW alone? It's 2 hours away, and I've got a Fl Seasonal Pass. It's very relaxing; I had a blast. I admit though, that it was my first time going alone. I did, at times, feel lonely. But never for long. It helped to meet some people I could walk around with (like the CM from Norway).

So that's about it. Considering I said I had nothing much to report, I sure typed a lot, huh? Oh well.
