Hello all!
Just returned home from my trip to Disney...returned home to snow and rain. Yuck! I want to go back! LOL
Stayed at the Polynesian. The hotel is still decorated for Christmas, so that was really nice to see. We were in Tahiti, ground floor lagoon side, so I had a perfect view of the castle and Space Mountain. In fact, I was almost next to the Ferry boat! I know there had been some discussion awhile back if they were running the resort launch boat from the GF and Ploy to the MK. It is up and running again, but it's really dry down there, so they're not sure how long the water level of the lagoon will be up.
The parks were pretty much empty. No waits, no lines, no complaints! The weather was a bit chilly the beginning of the week, but come Weds it was 70-plus each day, no rain. The Christmas decorations were still up on the 7th at the MK. By the next morning they were gone. If I didn't see them with my own eyes, I wouldn't have believed it!
CoP and TK were closed, no mention of reduced hours. Thunder Mountain is still running, Splash Mountain is drained (I have some pics if anyone is interested, just need to scan them). Also, Country Bears was closed until Friday. This was surprising as there was NO mention of a rehab. There was a sign out the whole week saying "see you in the Spring"...however the doors were open and the show running on Friday. I'm assuming they were chaging it back from the Christmas show?? This made for a dead Frontierland and rediculous lines at TM all week.
What else....oh, characters are EVERYWHERE!! And they're rare ones too. It's worth waiting in line to meet them. They're way more playful than normal. Captain Hook grabbed the hood of my sweatshirt and wouldn't let go, Prince John tried to steal my jewelry and I can't say enough about any of the Cinderella's. My little cousin Alexandra was with me and the look on her face was priceless. They were so good with her and they were quick with hugs for me, "The returning Princess" (as they both said)
The parades are fabulous. Don't miss the MGM and MK ones. I highly recommend Japan for dinner. The Teppanaki dining rooms are simply amazing. Well, I think that covers it. Let me know if you need more details!!
