Trip in mid-December questions

My partner and I just booked a 4-day trip, beginning on 12/13. We have some questions based on the fact that apparently this time period is pretty dead.

--We are staying at AKL, but just booked a standard room: how likely do you think an upgrade to a savannah-view room will be?
---On a related note, for those who have stayed at AKL, just how horrible is the time on buses to the other parks? We have reserved a car, but may cancel it if it becomes apparent that it won't really be necessary.

--We are thinking of booking the Fantasmic dinner package, but don't know if it will really be necessary (i.e. if the amphitheatre will be packed): thoughts?

--Does anyone have any ideas about operating hours yet, or when they'll be posted?

Well, When we stayed at AKL last summer, and we were upgraded to a Deluxe Savannah View Room from a Standard View room. I don't know what your chances are.

As far as the busses go, the longest I waited in June was 10 minutes, and it was CROWDED. The busses were so not a problem. They were also the shortest of all the busses at the end of the night!!!

I was upgraded the day after Christmas from a standard room to a pool view.

I stayed until January 2nd and had almost no problems with buses. The only problems with buses were just missing it (pulling out just as the stops come into view). I had about 10 minute waits tops with usually shorter ones if staying to park closing (most nights 2 buses were at the stop).
