Treehouse Villas

Hi!

Does anyone know what's up with the Treehouse Villas? Will they be reopening soon? When we took the boat from PO to Downtown Disney this past May the captain said they were being refurbished. I think they'd be really neat to stay at sometime.

Thanks for any information!

Yeah, it's actually pretty creepy. I played golf at LBV and you go right past them. I walked up and looked inside while I ws waiting to tee off.

All of the furniture and decorations are still sitting exactly as they were the day it closed. One of the beds was unmade, the shades partially drawn, and a picnic table on the front deck. It looks as if everyone that was staying there just disappeared in an instant. FREAKY.

It's getting ready for Tower of Terror the sequel.

In all honesty, I see no reason to this. If they have the rooms why don't they just open them? I can see them now wanting to be a part of Saratoga Springs since the themes contrast greatly. But build a small resort around that or something. Those rooms are going to waste there, and it is just lost money for Disney.

The Treehouse Villas were just one part of "The Villas at the Disney Institute". The other two included The Fairway Villas and The Grand Vista Homes. They are all closed now and the area is in the process of reconstruction as the new DVC "Saratoga Springs Resort." Phase one of the project has been completed. As the new DVC resort expands, the rest of the buildings will be torn down and replaced as DVC sales progress.

P.S. I read the "protected land" version too, but I don't put any stock into that story. It sounds rather absurd:

Phase II, which will encompass a group of eight buildings with 368 units, will open during 2005. Phase III, to open in 2007, will include six more buildings with 276 units, and will be built on the current site of the Fairway Villas buildings. The Treehouse Villas buildings will not be demolished, as they are on protected land. However, it is not believed that they will ever reopen to the public.
