Not that I expect Treasure Planet to be a sucess (I don't) someone at Disney does. In looking at the upcoming IMAX and Large-Format features (http://www.cinergetics.com/films.htm) you will find a listing for Treasure Planet. Seems Disney is doing the Large Format homework before release just in case. Jan. 1 2004?

Disney wants to push IMAX to "everyday" status. In my time there the word IMAX was thrown around more times than I can count...almost everything you see was either once, or currently is being considered for the large format.

Having seen most of treasure planet, i can tell you few scenes would be absolutly STUNNING in IMAX. AND..i can also tell you..even if the movie flops..expect an IMAX release... ;)

My understanding when I first heard Of IMAX in the mid 80s was that there was to be regular features produced for the IMAX format much eariler than the recent release with Disneys Beauty and the beast and an IMAX at most Multiplexes. I just recently went to see Signs and it was available in IMAX format as well as 70MM regular screen at my local cineplex
. I was supprised that they didn't do any of the new Starwars Pictures in IMAX format.

I think Treasure Planet looks pretty awesome, but unfortunately I have to predict a tepid reception by the general public given the performance of films like Atlantis and Titan: A.E.

I wish Disney would put out it's new computer animated films in TRUE Imax resolution. Too bad it is so insanely expensive.
