Treasure Planet for the PS2

Is it just me or is this game just a knock-off of Jak & Daxter?

I've spent this evening playing a demo version of the game that only had 3 of the levels and I cannot help but think it's just a Disney-fied version of Jak & Daxter minus some of the better things of J&D.
You collect coins instead of Precursor Orbs... you collect a green energy instead of Power Cells... the Red Crates are opened via Morph becoming your "strong arms" instead of blasting the Strong Boxes via a cannon... you get barrels instead of Treasure Chests. And of course, the adorable sidekick is Morph instead of Daxter. Oh yeah, one more thing... instead of the A-GraV Zoomer, you now have the Solar Sail.

While still a decent game, I did have a few comments about the lip-synching in the cut-away scenes. Graphically it looks nice and the controls are easy to learn if you've played J&D in the past. I'm still going to buy the game, I was just hoping for something a bit more from Disney instead of a re-themed Jak & Daxter.

Anyone else got an opinion on this?

That's exactly what it is - in fact, thats how every Disney rep pitched it to me at E3.

"It's just like D&J, only with TP characters"

If you look at most of Disney's movie themed games, they're based on other successful games, so this is nothing new, example:

Lilo&Stitch (GBA) = Flashback (Lilo parts)/Metal Slug (Stitch parts)

Not that it's a bad thing since D&J is one of my favorite platformers on the PS2 (second only to Ratchet and Clank). I'm also finished the game, and have really enjoyed it so far.

not saying I don't like J&D or Treasure Planet... I just the similarities to be huge.
I loved playing J&D... it might have taken me a qhile but I finally got through it with 100% completion. Heck, I'm still working on KH whenever I get the chance to sit down for a few hours...
I'm looking forward to actually trying out some of the other levels within Treasure Planet... just trying to figure out if I want to actually complete some of my other games before I pick up this title...

Yeah - its nothing you have to jump on. Besides, if it gets the same reception nearly every Diseny movie based game gets, you'll probably be able to find it cheaper by the time you finish your other games.

Honestly, the only reason I jumped to playing it was becuase I only have 2 weeks to play at least half of it and do a reveiw, and I'm trying to keep up with the holiday rush.

I know that feeling... I'm only able to access three levels on the demo disc and I'm going to try to write up a review based off of those three levels. It will be interesting to see what I come up with. :)
