Traveling from resort to restaurant to park in AM

We are going to Chef Mickey's and Kona Cafe for breakfast. Which park would be best on which day? We would like to do MK and Epcot. I know they both have monorail access so does it matter?

From Kona Cafe you can walk to the TTC to board the monorail directly to Epcot. From Chef Mickey's you can monorail to MK or even walk.

For those two parks it really doesn't matter. I'd choose based on park hours rather than on restaurant choice in this case because both are on the monorail system and would enable you to get either directly to MK or directly to the TTC where you could pick up another monorail to Epcot.

Both are great for MK. Like someone else posted you can walk from Kona Cafe (at the Poly) to the TTC and catch the EPCOT monorail. You can ride the monorail or walk from Chef Mickeys (at the Contemporary) to MK.

I'd do whichever has the best park hours. Both restaurants have easy access to MK and to EPCOT via monorails.

Breakfast

Check the park hours and decide that way. That's the best way to mazimize your time and money. Be sure to leave enough transportation time to get to each meal especially if you are coming from your resort. It takes A LOT longer than you think!

A lot depends on park schedule and adr time, but it's also not a huge deal either way. Last trip we did Chef Mickey's on our Epcot day since we had a 7:05a adr. i.e. we took the monorail from CR to the TTC and then switched monorails to go to Epcot. We actually made it right in time for rope drop. As others have noted, the walk to MK from CR is a breeze and you can walk to the TTC from the Poly or take the monorail to MK. We did have an early breakfast at 'Ohana one morning and I remember there being a bit of a crowd on the monorail afterwards- i.e. people heading to MK. While the crowd was bigger on this trip than the trip from CR to TTC on our Chef Mickey's day- it also wasn't bad either. So, I think it's really a toss up.

Thanks to all who replied. :) We still cannot book our reservations until May 2012 :( . As soon as we can though I will let you guys know. I am totally a planner and the planner for our large group of 16 that is going in 2012. Right now, we are trying to narrow down which restaurants we are going to go to. Our ages range from 3 to 82. Trying to accommodate everyone in our group is always a challenge for me but I must be doing something right because its our 4th time going back as a group this big!

I personally would choose the Chef Mickey option the DAY AFTER a Magic Kingdom early entry...since you'll be having a meal and won't be among the first in the gates. Enjoy your meal and head to MK with the hopes that the resort guests will be at another park that has early entry that day. That's my tip...As for Kona...just do the same...book it for the day after early entry at that park and take the monorail to TTC and then head to EPCOT.

I admire you...a party of 16 with that large of an age spread. AWESOME!!!!

I'm totally the planner in our group when we travel as well. I love planning everything and it means the other people in our group dont have to worry about anything :)

I agree with most everyone else.. See what the park hours are and go from there. If it were me, personally, I'd do Kona Cafe then walk to the TTC and go to Epcot on a morning without EMH. Then I'd do Chef Mickeys and walk over to MK, also on a morning where there are no EMH. That way you can schadule breakfast for 7am an still be at the parks right around rope drop! :)

Keeping in mind what others have said about making sure the park hours for the days in question make sense with the ADRs, I would also say this...

You're going to have to take a bus to the Magic Kingdom to get to either restaurant/resort regardless. If you don't feel like walking, the resort monorail from the Magic Kingdom takes you to the Contemporary first, and then the TTC. So, it's a straight line to go from the Kingdom to the Contemporary to the TTC to catch your connection to Epcot. Because of this, it makes the most logistic sense to go to Epcot on your Chef Mickey's day.
