Travel with camera question!

I'll be going to WDW in 2 weeks and I have not traveled through airports yet with my DSLR camera. My biggest concern is the Transcend 16GB SecureDigital Class 10 (SDHC) Ultra-High-Speed Card going through the xray machine. The card isn't xray proof and I was wondering if anyone else has had issues with possibly losing their pictures and whatnot from going through security machines at the airport.

Is this type of memory card going to be ok going through the xray machine? Or should I look at getting a different card?

All you photographers out there, I'm sure you can help!

X-ray machines at the airport are a problem with some high sensitivity film, but digital is a different story altogether. For starters, it wouldn't be the memory card you'd need to worry about. The memory card just records the data from the camera. Memory cards aren't sensitive to light at any end of the spectrum, including xrays. In digital cameras, its the image sensor that is sensitive to light. Unless the camera is powered up with the lens cap off, and you're actually in the process of taking a picture, there is no concern for sensitivity to any light. And even then, you wouldn't need to worry about xrays.

To add to this..SD cards can survive a LOT worse than X-Rays. I've dropped one in water before and once it dried out, my data was still there. So set your mind at ease a bit when using SD cards...they can go through a lot.

and a cheap program, like 19.99 can basically recover any data if it fails.

I had a card fail at a wedding and well, I freaked out... went home and recovered 100% of the data

Thanks everyone. This is my first trip with a DSLR, I got a Canon T3 kit, not the best, but what I could afford. I'm looking forward to getting some awesome shots and just having fun with a new level of camera. I've been taking pics of everything to try and get used to the camera. I have the UV filter on it, and it came with the little macro and wide angle lens, so I'm looking to just have fun and take pics of everything!

Honestly the T3 isn't bad..and the equipment doesn't make the most difference..the USER does. I am positive you will very impressed with what you do once you get used to it :)
