Travel to WDW pregnant and during covid

Hello!

I am new here and just wanted to ask around for some advice. I will be 6 months pregnant in March and have a Disney World vacation scheduled for March 15th. My doctor didn't give me a straight answer as to if I should fly or not and go to FL due to covid.

I have an airfare credit from our Disney cruise in September that was cancelled, so I don't think they will extend this a third time in 2022. I didn't want to go after the baby was born in 2021 as I also have a 3 year old. 2022 would be much better.

I really don't know what to do. Any help/advice would be appreciated. I am not sure what I am comfortable with doing as I don't know how this would affect me and baby if I get it.

There is a little trick I do when I have these types of choices.
first I look at both choices and say if I went through with both choices how would I feel? and second I take money out of the equation.

So the question I pose to you is, mentally how would you feel if you went through with the trip.
Would you be anxious? when you came home would you stress about possibly being sick? things like that.

I would probably bag the trip. Now lol, I always say I'm not a stable mabel on a good day and while my kids are young adults I do remember having little one's lol, talk about hectic.

Congratulations on your wonderful family, and there isn't any wrong/right answer. you're a mama trust your instincts and do what brings you the least amount of stress ;)

To the OP:

I would find a new doctor. You know there are 1.9M+ dead (WW), right?

I have to ask. Do you REALLY think, considering the chance of infection and death of your unborn child, that this travel is a good idea? Are you asking us to help you decide whether the few hundred dollars in question can somehow outweigh family health considerations?

Pregnant women that get covid are more likely to be in the ICU on a ventilator and die.
Also if you do have covid when you give birth you may be required to quarantine from your baby.

If it were me. I would not go.
Its not me though. Its you.
You have to decide.

^ Excellent advice. We can all tell you what we would do- personally, I wouldn't risk it either- but it's ultimately your choice. Something I usually do is ask myself the worst possible outcome of each choice, and ask myself if I would regret my decision if it happens. If I think I would, I reconsider. If I think I won't, I move ahead.

I'm honestly in the same position! I have asked my doctors multiple times and they state it is my choice. Never a yes or no. I went to Disney in September and felt safe being there. My biggest thing is the flying. It is definitely the pros and con test for this. I will be 5 months pregnant with I go in March as well.

Well....maybe my bias is showing here, but I imagine if it was safe then your doctor would have just said it was safe. "It's your choice" sounds more like the doctor is aware we don't fully understand the effects this can have on pregnancies and isn't willing to give the all-clear.
Again, that might just be my own personal opinion reading into things. But whenever a doctor tells me something is "My choice" I usually take that as a more polite way of saying they don't think I should.

Ask another doctor instead of trying to get advice that could affect you and your child.

If you were driving I'd say absolutely!!! Go and have fun. The flying is what makes me nervous. I'm not pregnant but may be flying with our 9m old and I'm a little weary about it. I'm fully vaccinated but obviously he is not. If you want to go to Disney, I'd drive, if you are trying to get use out of the credit, I'd probably let it expire and just plan another trip.

I think if it were me! I’d call or email the airlines and see if you can get your tickets extended. Include a physicians note if needed stating you aren’t medically cleared to fly and see if that helps. Otherwise I think I’d forgo the tickets and chalk it up to “better safe than taking a potential risk that could have serious repercussions for you and your family. 😒 Good luck and congrats!
