I'll start by saying that once you stay at a delixe resort it spoils you, which has its advantages and disadvantages. One of my main worries and issues when staying at a moderate is the time in buses. For example, not only do pretty much all of them not connect to a park, but the resorts are pretty big so the buses stop numerous times within the resort. Feels like when staying at a moderate you lose atleast an hour a day just bc of transportation. Was wanting to book a trip for early December but the availability and price for the BC and YC don't look good, so having to maybe go to POR, which we've stayed at but the convenience to the parks from deluxes is very underrated.

CBR connects to everything, and in May when I was there we never waited longer than 10 minutes for a bus. The pick up drop off patterns there always seemed the same , so if you were concerned with multiple stops, you could just ask to stay at the hub that gets picked up last by buses. I personally liked staying in Martinique (sp?) because it is the first pick up and I liked picking my seat on a empty bus.

RUBBISH - All Resort transportation takes you to the parks.
but the resorts are pretty big so the buses stop numerous times within the resort.
RUBBISH - A sweeping statement with little research behind it. POFQ has one main bus stop. AKL has one main bus stop.....

RUBBISH - When we last stayed at POFQ the bus sometimes went directly to the parks and on occasions it picked up guest at POR. In the case of the latter, we may have been delayed by 20 minutes or so - but an hour ????

The buses can be faster than monorail hubs at times. Try getting on a monorail in summer at MK park close and you'll wish you were waiting in line for a bus instead. Lol

I usually stay at POFQ and it is the best moderate resort IMO. It is located close to all except AK. It is less then a 10 min ride to Epcot and HS and about 10-15 min to MK. Plus it only has 1 bus stop. No doubt the deluxe resorts are nice but I have stayed at several and even though they only have 1 bus stop each, most share with 2-3 other resorts. So it comes out about the same and sometimes longer.

I was going to pretty much say the same thing, but in a nicer way. :D

I will tell you my experience at the resorts I have been to. Though not everyone agrees with me on BW.

POFQ- Good service, sometimes transit was not timely. We went to another stop within the resort before going to our destination.

CS - Great service, rarely waited more than 15 minutes. I believe 4 stops around the resort, but it is not that big so it's quick.

AKL- been here 2 times, always great service, I think a couple times we had to wait 20-25 minutes. A little bit of a haul to MK (I believe I timed it before at 19 miniutes).

BW - Our worst experience. Everyone says they have their own dedicated bus but our bus went to so many resorts, I do not know what was up with out trip. The buses were not timely at all, usually in the 25-40 minute range.

Help me with this one, I've stayed at AKL eight times over the last three years and with the exception of one overflow bus we have ALWAYS stopped at TWO locations.
AKL (Jambo House) has the one bus stop down the hill from the Lobby & gift shop. The second location to which you refer is the Animal Kingdom DVC (Kidani)

I thought that the Boardwalk, Yacht and Beach, and Swan/Dolphin shared a bus loop....

HA! I didn't realize we were calling the Kidani house Animal Kingdom DVC even though they BOTH still share a bus.

EDIT:
Even their own signage refers to BOTH houses as AKL:

BEST service of all moderates; although, POFQ does not have two stops. They may stop at POR and pick up more guests. I stayed at POFQ for 10 days and only once did the bus loop around to pick up at POR (and I think we looped the entire resort). Otherwise it is "door to door service".

I'm saying this as someone who stays at a monorail resort...the monorail is my LAST choice in transportation. I typically stay at the Contemp and walk to MK, but if I'm at the Poly, I'll boat over. Over the past few years, the monorails have become incredibly busy and the timing has been greatly lengthened. Busses are nothing compared to waiting for a train while looking at the MK....

AKL has two Kidani(DVC) and Jambo (reg lodge itself). I have been there when the buses go to both stops, as well as having a dedicated bus for each Kidani and Jambo separately. So it's luck of the draw and capacity that determines.

You could stay at a Deluxe and have to do multi stops of the bus. SSR and OKW are like this.

I've only stayed at a moderate once and that was POR which we loved but the bus stops were a pain. When I said all the moderates don't connect to a park I meant walking or monorail not bus, obviously they all go anywhere by bus. From what it sounds POFQ only has one stop which is intriguing. I also noticed that most pools are generally not far from the front of resorts so a pool view room might be worth it as well.

I can't say enough good things about FQ! We too have stayed at the GR, Poly and CR in the past, but since I got married 18 mos ago and QUADRUPLED my family size, it's no longer feasible for us to stay at the deluxe resorts. The size of the resort is it's best quality. We once stayed in room # 5201 and the walk to the pool, lobby and food court was 30 seconds. The walk to the only bus stop was maybe 1 min and 30 seconds. Sometimes POR and FQ share buses, but VERY RARELY. In 3 trips we've had to share buses maybe 3 times. FQ also has the boat that can be taken to DS or over to POR. There's also a walking trail to POR. As sister resorts guests are allowed to use both pools. I have been to WDW 16 times( 3 times at FQ with a 4th time coming up this winter) and can't even THINK of staying anywhere else now! I promise you will LOVE FQ!
