Travel agent--hurt feelings?

Unfortunately I had to cancel a trip I had planned with a travel agent I've used a couple of times. A work thing came up, so I had to move my trip. The bad news was I couldn't just shift it, as the discount I had booked wasn't going to be available for the new week.

I e-mailed my TA that I had to cancel, no response. Though today I see that I have the deposit back for 1 of the 2 rooms I booked. Which seemed strange. But it really seems odd that there was no acknowledgement of the cancellation from my TA. No sorry you had to cancel. No recognition of the fact I said I was planning on using them again in the future, nothing.

So is this hurt feelings, or a bad business that I should stay away from? I'm left feeling I did something wrong, though I told him at booking I wasn't sure what dates were going to work, and unfortunately the ones I had booked didn't. Is his lack of response normal?

And now i"m feeling jerky because I had to email him again and say "In case I was unclear, I need to cancel both rooms." Sigh.

I get the uneasy, "did I do something wrong?" embarrassing feeling a lot. When I write an e-mail to someone and I don't get a prompt response, I read over what I wrote and think, "Could she have been offended by this? Or this?" Then I get a reply and it turns out they were just busy.

You did nothing wrong and should have no reason to feel jerky. I suspect the TA was just very busy, but it's still not a good excuse for not responding to you.

I have absolutely no issue canceling a trip. The last 3 times I booked through my TA, I wound up getting better deals that they don't search for. All of the time we were booked at Pop Century. All 3 times I received significant deals that were near or far below the PC price: $500 for a 2BR at WBC ($500 price difference), $1,200 1BR at BWV ($100 increase), $1,250 1BR SSR (even).

If a TA gets hurt feelings, maybe they need to do a better job seeking better rates OR pass those booking moneys they get on to you. I've stopped using a TA because most of the time, I find better deals myself. Latest is a 1BR at WBC in mid-June for $550 for 7 nights. That's a 50% savings on the cheapest Disney Value resort.

Got an e-mail from the TA last night. He was sorry for the mess up with only refunding one of the two rooms. So that should be on its way shortly. Thanks everyone for reassuring me I wasn't out of line.
