Hi I am new here, and its will be our first time at Disney. We are staying at the port orleans and have a 14 day pass for the parks. We have however booked a 1 day ticket to universal and I cant seem to find a reliable and easy option to get there. I know that at Disney you have to arrange your own transportation if you are going outside the resort, but will the hotel have a list of reputable taxi companies. Not too bothered about the cost, just need something reliable to get us there and back.

We've used Mears when we've gone off property. (800-759-5219) They have always been reliable for us and the drivers pleasant. My wife handles making the appts ahead of our trip and reconfirms the reservations the day before. I would think there must be a list of other taxi services available at the resorts. So many guests go off property at sometime during their stays.

I would just rent a car for the day. Seems like that would be cheaper than a taxi.

i would rent a car that way you arent tied down to specific times. the other options are taxi cab or a shuttle. i know there is one that you call the night before and it comes to your resort. i believe its mears but not one hundred percent sure.

We used MEARS once to get from Pop Century to Universal. We had a new bus driver who was kind of slow at taking the tickets because some people paid ahead of time and he couldn't figure out what to do, but other than that it was a good experience. You just choose a pick up time and then call an hour ahead to be picked up from Universal. The only problem is they make other stops along the way, such as Sea World, but its a nice cheap option. We didn't do it this way, but I believe there's some kind of deal where you can purchase the Universal ticket and the bus ticket for a discounted price.
