Transportation to/from Contemporary

My fiance and I are staying at the Dolphin (great teacher rate!) right after Xmas. I want to have dinner and watch Wishes from the Cal. Grill in the contemp. I thought we would just take the monorail from Epcot to get there, but how to get back? Is there a bus direct to the S & D/ Boardwalk that runs late, should we take the monorail to the T&T center and then catch the bus? Will Epcot be open long enough after to take the Monorail back and then walk or boat to the Dolphin?

Suggestions, please

:xmas: :slurp: :sohappy:

It is a pain to use Disney transportation from one resort to another. You have to go to a park first. Getting there. Take the monorail from Epcot to the TTC. Then get on the resort monorail to the contemporary, it will be the fourth stop. To get back take the resort monorail to the magic kingdom and take the bus back to your resort. Magic Kingdom should be cleared out somewhat by then.

After Wishes concludes, you could walk from the Contemporary to the MK bus depot and catch a bus back to the Dolphin.

Or, you could monorail it to the MK monorail station and then walk over to the MK bus depot.

The busses should be running from MK for at least 1 hour after the MK closes.

Just so you know. No buses from the TTC go to resorts. Found this out the hard way last week. The buses at the TTC only go to parks.

I also did walk from the contemporary to the MK and although the walk is not bad you will be doing enough walking on your trip and should avoid any that are not needed.

If your reservation is on a night where the Magic Kingdom is closed with Wishes (ie. Park closes at 7 pm and Wishes starts at 7 pm), I would suggest scheduling your dinner so that it is complete before the start of the show. That way you can watch the fireworks and then make a b-line for the Monorail to the Magic Kingdom. If you wait too long, about 30 mins after the official closing time of the park, the monorail will not be dropping guests off at the Magic Kingdom. It then becomes necessary for you to go to the Contemporary Bus Stop and catch the Downtown Disney Bus and transfer there or walk over to the Bus stops at the Magic Kingdom.

If you are seeing the show on a a Saturday, generally the show will be a hour or two before park closing. Just take the Monorail the Magic Kingdom and grad the bus to your resort.

On the way there I would suggest taking Epcot Monorail to TTC. Than just walk over to the Contemporary. If you've never walked it, I found it fun walking underneath the monorail tracks, etc...

Or you could take a bus to MK and than take the Monorail to the Contemporary (it would be the next stop).

On the way back...

Monorail to TTC than monorail to Epcot. It should be running. If not than Monorail all the way around back to MK and bus back to your hotel.

Or you could walk to MK and bus back to your hotel. I just love staring at Space Mountain during that walk. Of course just seeing MK makes me giddy (and I'm 36).

The teacher rate (at least in August when I booked for next summer) is $129 Dolphin/$145 Swan. You need to show a valid teacher's certificate or license when you check in. You need to book this directly with these hotels (get phone number at www.swandolphin.com); to my knowledge you can't book this rate over the net or through Disney.

If you're done with dinner and the show by 7:30 or maybe 8 you should be able to make it to epcot by 9 to get in and walk back to the Swan and Dolphin through the International gateway.

Illuminations is always at 9pm so the gate is open until just after that. We've squeaked in by 9:05. Good excuse to catch the fireworks at Epcot.

If you miss it and make it back after 9pm then it's not a big deal, just go to the Epcot bus stop and take the bus back to Swan&Dolphin.

Officially, there are no busses from EPCOT to the Swan and Dolphin. They are only provided, if needed, after the Friendship boats stop running for the night because the official way to move from resort to resort is via Downtown Disney.

Just a to correct this infomation. There are buses from the TTC to two Disney Resorts, to the Wilderness Lodeg and Fort Wilderness Campground, you take the same bus for both resorts, being the lodge the first stop. These two resorts dont have bus transportation from the MK, but you can take a cruiser instead.
