Transportation Question from ONT

I am planning a trip to Disneyland next year, and I have flown in to LAX and SNA, but I was able to get a great deal flying into ONT. I have never flown there before. Are there any good transportation options? When I flew into SNA I used Lyft and the couple of times at LAX was when Disneland Express still existed. Are there any good private transportation services to look at? It is a party of 5.

Check with Enterprise (has to be Enterprise as they are the only car rental place onsite at DL) how much a one way one day rental is to Pixar Pier Hotel. My brother secured a $130 rate for a minivan in October.

There's nothing specific to the Disneyland Resort as far as transportation at Ontario International Airport. You're basically left up to your own devices to price out a Lyft/Uber or rental car from that airport for the 35 mile drive to Anaheim.

That said, sometimes the airfares can be so substantially below the John Wayne (SNA) airfares that even a spendy Uber ride round trip still makes it worth it. It sounds like you got one of those deals, so congratulations! 🥳

Also, if you arrive in Ontario after mid-day you are basically going against traffic to get west into OC and Anaheim, so the drive is relatively fast. However, on your departure day if you leave from Ontario anytime from 3pm to 8pm on a weekday realize that you will be fighting some rather mighty freeway traffic to get back out to Ontario. A 2+ hour drive from Anaheim to Ontario during afternoon rush hour is not unheard of. Plan for that!

Fun Fact: About a decade ago the Ontario International Airport folks floated the idea of renaming the airport "Walt Disney International Airport" to try and steal some of the Disneyland business from OC's John Wayne Airport.

Walt had never lived near Ontario, had never owned property there, and had no physical or cultural ties to that city or region.

The locals out in San Bernardino County and around Ontario were offended by the idea. People everywhere in SoCal laughed at them,. And the Ontario airport crew quietly abandoned the idea. Even Walt Disney would have thought that was a dumb idea.

When I lived in San Jose I would normally fly into SNA and take a Lyft to my hotel. One trip I decided to look at LGB which had way cheaper airline tickets. The problem was that LGB is farther away and the price for Lyft was double and ended up washing out the airline savings. Plus, the ride was longer.

Ontario is a 45-50 minute drive to Anaheim. The question is, will the transportation cost to Anaheim wash out the deal you got flying into Ontario, or will you still save money?

I also started evaluating hotels in the same way. Sure, I could find a hotel half the cost much further away from Disneyland, but then I'd have to pay for parking which would end up being the same cost as if I found a hotel walking distance or near the Toy Story lot.

I’ve flown into Ontario and taken Uber or Lyft - similar price to LAX which means expensive haha.

The airports I like are Orange County (obviously) and then Bob Hope cause I can take the train directly from the airport to Anaheim.
