Transportation from Port Canaveral

Sorry if this has been discussed before but I couldn't find it in search. Now the question: If I book a non-Disney cruise from Port Canaveral (gasp!) what would be my cheapest/best option of getting to a Disney hotel. I don't think I could take the Disney Cruise shuttle, right? And there's not really gonna be a flight but it seems far to take a cab? Anyone ever done this? I'm gonna be at a Disney resort so I don't need other transportation and I'll be leaving MCO so I can take magical express to my flight home. Thanks all.

rental car

i would suggest you look into a one way rental. most rental companies in florida will let you rent one way with NO one way drop off fees being added. if you are lucky the company in the cape will have a shuttle to the cruise line from the car drop off site. then when you return if you are going back to orlando again a one way back. give them a call and check out their locations. the easiest from a disney resort would be national/alamo.

Just saw this and wanted to say I was researching this today actually. You can just get a towncar to drop you off at the resort from the ship. They actually say that getting a towncar or limo is cheaper than using the Disney shuttle (but since you are looking at a non-Disney cruise, can't use the shuttle anyway)

Have fun

We're cruising in Nov and found that a one way rental car was the cheapest since there are 5 of us. We rented from National's location in Cocoa Beach and are returning to the airport, but you can also return it to the Car Care location outside MK or to the Dolphin hotel. It requires taking a taxi from Port Canaveral to the National office, but it's still saving us nearly 150.00! Budget and Avis provide shuttle service from the port to their offices, but don't have return locations at WDW that are as convenient. If you plan to keep the car for your WDW stay though, you might be able to get the rental car for the same price or less than a one way towncar which would run appx 135.00-175.00 depending on the company. Or if you have more than 4 people like we do, a limo runs appx 250.00 one way.

We changed our minds on the cruise and are leaving out of Miami now. But our decision is to rent a car one way. We reserved from budget to pick up at MIA and drop off at the Dolphin. We used a code from mousesavers and got 20% off. The price was $30 and some change before the taxes and such.
