Transportation between resorts

I am getting ready to make some evening reservations for dinner. We are staying at POFQ and I was wondering what the transportation is like as far as getting from one resort to another. For example, we were planning on eating one night at AKL (Boma), one night at the Contemporary etc...Seems like I read somewhere it could take up to an hour + to hop from one resort to the next. Just trying to get ballpark estimates on how much time to allow. We should be leaving for dinner from POFQ those evenings. I don't want to over analyze things-just think we need to go ahead and get some reservations on the books for a June trip. I will be almost 6 mos. pregnant at the time so I would love to take advantage of all the food I hear that you get with the dining plan! Thank for any advice-

I know there are no busses between the resorts, but POR offers a nice boat ride to DTD. From there you could bus to the resorts. You could return the same way or bus from the other resort the a park and then back to POFQ. I don't know how long this would take, but it you make your ADRs early enough you should be fine.

I'm assuming that you won't have access to a car...so the best bet would be to take a bus to the nearest park, which would be Epcot, then a bus to AKL or take the monorail to the CR.

I would allow for an hour just to be safe though.

I agree with this, but what we do is just take the first bus that comes to the stop.

It really doesn't matter so much if you catch the bus to AKL from Epcot, AK, STudios, or MK.

Might be easier to do the monorail to the Contemporary, however.

Hello,
depending on what time of night you are trying to get to AKL you might be the only guests on the bus from POFQ to AK and there for the driver might be able to take you right to AKL. With the Contemporay you can take a Bus to MK and then walk down the pathway to the hotel. its quicker than taking the monorail most of the time and if its a nice night its a great walk.

If you got anyother questions PM me since i am a Bus Driver for the WDW resort.

Melnjross, try this link:http://http://www.ourlaughingplace.com/asp/twiz.aspx

You have to scroll down to the bottom of the page, but the link contains a Transportation chart. You select the place within the World you're starting at, and going to, and it gives methods of getting there as well as transportation times.

Thanks to everyone so far for their insight. I am trying not to over plan and take the joy out of the trip. I just need some general guidelines here as it has been 20+ years since I have been to WDW and can you imagine what has changed since then!!!

Like most have said head to the park closest to the resort you are going to and from there go to the resort. I would avoid trying to go anywhere from DTD unless you have no other choice. The route that the buses take to DTD goes all the way behind Saratoga Springs and takes forever. By far the quickest and easiest way is by cab. In most cases a cab will take less than 30 minutes Disney transportation can easily take an hour.

I agree that taking the Downtown Disney bus is a bad idea. The boat ride is long/slow and the bus ride from DTD to any resort seems never-ending! Not only do these busses make an East/West stop- but many resorts share busses for Typhoon Lagoon. Assuming you're going at dinner time- you might hit closing times at TL thereby making it a full and wet bus.

I tend to err on the side of being early anyway.

Fortunately, if you are way early for your ADR, there is plenty to do at both resorts while you wait.
