Epcot Explorer's Encyclopedia is reporting that the dates have been solidified fot Tranformers (6/13/2013) and Potter (6/2015), but no indication where this information came from.

I've been wondering what the time frames were on these projects. I somehow have a hard time believe it's going to take almost 3 years for Potter 2.0 to open. Especially when they're already going vertical with Gringott's. I, like you, wonder where this information was obtained. Not that I doubt the link, just curious. I'm planning another Orlando trip for October of 2014 & expected Potter to be finished honestly, but I don't know what all needs to be done before then.

Don't put much stock into that Potter date. I think they may be able to squeeze a late summer 2014 opening out of it. I could also see it opening December 2014. I'm fairly certain it will be ready before 6/2015.

For instance, I took a picture of the Forbidden Journey showbuilding frame in May 2008 and it opened June 2010. Basically 2 years. Gringotts is almost at that point now.

Well first off no one knows exactly what the date will be for Transformers. Contractors have been given a date Dec 2013 for which the project MUST be completed by. The deal between Universal Hensel Phelps and PCL is an incentive laden deal. June/July are target dates the contractors are aiming for to get a lot more money. Meet the rush deadline and get paid the big bucks! Miss your deadline on the back end and face a penalty. It's like this with most major construction projects. Universal is throwing huge capital into Transformers through incentives and overall construction costs via round he clock construction. In the end though most of the increased payroll these contractors are throwing into this project are being fronted by them in order to get their massive incentives. Universal isn't the only one who wants this project up and running as soon as possible.

As for Potter I think late 2014 is possible but my money is on June 2015 for a grand with softs a month or two before that. One thing many seem to forget is this expansion is much larger in scale than phase 1 in every way. The sheer amount of detail work, testing, and changes required once construction is completed will also mimic what happened during the end of phase 1. It has to be perfect because yet again the world will be watching. And not only will they see Potter, they will see an entire new park. People are going to be blown away when this project is announced next year as Universal is raising the bar they set in Phase 1 to another level.

I'm really enjoying your input. Thanks for all of the info you're providing. You've got me even more excited to watch the construction going on over at UNI for the next couple years. However, I hope you're 2014 projection is more correct than your 2015. But I guess that will just give me another reaosn to go to UNI again soon after. Oh how I wish Disney were doing the same thing to get me excited for repeat trips. :-/
