Transferring between Resorts

[/B]Our plan is as follows:

Check in to Pop Century around 5pm - stay for 1 night.

The next day, check out of Pop Century. Then, check in to Port Orleans - French Quarter that morning for 7 nights/8 days.

We will not be renting a car. Does anyone have any suggestions on how we can get from Pop Century to Port Orleans - FQ? We are on the Silver Plan, so we will need to go with our luggage because we need to check in to PO-FQ to get our park hopper passes & wishes. So, unfortunately, we can't just have our luggage transferred.

I am guessing the only option we have is to get a taxi from Pop to PO-FQ?
Has anyone else ever done this or have any suggestions?

THANKS! :)

The resort can transer your luggage for you. I'm not sure of the bus transportation since I haven't stayed in either resort, but I'm sure somebody here can help out..maybe Turkey or Invero. You will be able to pick up all of your tickets and stuff when you get there & check in.

I don't think you and your luggage need to check in at the same time. POP should notify POR that your luggage is on the way. You will want to get to POR as quickly as possible, however, to pick up your park passes.

To go from resort to resort, you'll need to use a park (or the TTC) as an intermediate stop.

I think I would take a taxi--it will save you a lot of time.

Yeah, I agree. A taxi would save alot of time. I guess I could just tell bell services that I need a taxi? It couldn't be more than $5-10... I guess. But, who knows at $DisneyWorld$?

Thanks

I would suggest stopping at PO-FQ first and dropping off the majority of your luggage there and let them store it over night. Then in a seperate, maybe carry on size bag, carry what you need for the night with you, take the bus to the TTC, then connect to POP. You would save the cab fair and have your luggage waiting for you where you are going to end up at anyway.

There are no buses that run from Port Orleans or Pop to the TTC. Buses run to the 4 theme parks and DTD.

You can have Pop take your bags to FQ. They won't make it over until around noon, but it sounds like you'll spend the day in the parks so you shouldn't need your bags.

Getting a taxi to/from Pop will cost between $5-10. Taking a majority of the bags to Port first might not be bad either.

I knew I posted here for a reason... :animwink:

I NEVER even thought of dropping the luggage off at PO-FQ when we first get there. We will be using Tiffany Towncar from the airport and if they are willing to stop at the grocery, then maybe we can beg & plead for them to stop by PO-FQ before heading to Pop Century.

Then in the morning, we could check out and take a bus to MGM. At MGM we would transfer back to PO-FQ to check in and get our park tickets & wishes. Then we would only have carry on bags to bring with us.

I actually thought about a similar plan and kept thinking "how in the world are we going to get on a Disney bus with 4 sets of luggage" (4 people going). People would think we were crazy! LOL

Thanks!

Just tell the driver up front what you want to do and promise a good tip and you should not have a problem. I forgot that you cant go direct to the TTC from the resorts, but you could catch a bus to one of the parks or Downtown Disney then catch a bus to POP.

I know that Disney prides itself in customer service, but I personally would not want to trust my luggage getting from one resort to the other. To many headaches if it gets lost and not found.....to simple to get it where your going to end up at first.

It isnt possible to be able to get your tickets at Pop before you leave to check into POR? I would think a call to Tic/Res might be able to swing it for you. I personally have never swapped hotels but am considering it on our next trip as a surprise to my family but it wont be till the end of the trip so tickets wont be a problem. If they gave you your tickets at Pop then you could have them transfer the luggage and you could still enjoy a full day of yout ticket and just head back to POR a little earlier to get your room.

Tranferring between resorts...

 HI! It is quite simple to transfer from one resort to the next. Disney excells in the area of customer service for the most part...

We transferred from AKL to BCV in February 2004 and had no problems whatsoever. You merely let them know when you are checking in, and call down to the front desk in the AM when you are ready to check out. A bellman will come up to your room to collect your luggage. (I recommend taking a beach bag with you with your suits so that you can swim at your resort before your room is ready.) Anyway, at this point, you can take Disney transport to POFQ via DTD or one of the theme parks (ask at front desk what would be the quickest) and start your check-in; you will be given your room keys, park passes, wishes, etc. and a business card with a phone number to call later to find out if your room is ready yet. Often times the rooms are ready before the official check-in time. :D (Once our room was ready at 9:00 am!)

Now you can go play and when you get back to POFQ your bags should be waiting for you in your room. This won't cost you anymore than the tip for the bellman who handles your luggage. Good Luck and Enjoy!!!

:sohappy: 20 more days til my next Check-In... YEAH!!!

I have done what you are efforting... and it's easy.

We checked into the All Star Sports Resort for a night and switched to Port Orleans Riverside the next night. I told the Cast Member at check-in what we were up to and she said that when we were ready to check out of the All Star, to call the front desk and they would help from there.

We did just that and they had a van take us over to Port Orleans. We did have to wait about 20 minutes for the van to arrive, but it was so nice of them to do that for us.

I am sure they don't do this all the time, but we asked.. and the mighty mouse helped us out! Give it a try! If it doesn't work, have the CM's send your luggage over and take Disney Transportation to Port Orleans.

A Cab may run a hefty tab...

Have fun!

Can't get tickets at Pop. They are on the silver plan which means wishes won't be able to get until they actually check in at FQ because they are on that reservation, same with tickets.

It's rare that a resort will transport you to your new resort, unless Disney somehow messed up, or it's extremely slow, or someone is really really generous. There are just too many people transferring from resort to resort to transport everyone.

A cab shouldn't run more than $10.

Well, I guess it wouldn't hurt to ask the CM at check-in if she has any suggestions on how we can get to PO-FQ from Pop? Maybe she will suggest the van? We are going at the end of January 2005, so it is usually a very s l o w time.. :)

But, if all else fails, a taxi is always an option?
