Trance, Dance, House, Techno, and Disney?

A few weeks ago, I heard a great song on http://www.ipartyradio.com/ and was very impressed. It was "Pure Imagination" by "Ford." A remix of the song from the original "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" movie. it wasn't cheesy, it was performed excellently, and the music breathed a whole new life into that song.

So my question is, has anyone else heard any really outstanding remixes of Disney World themes, or Disney themes in general?

I picked up a CD about 3 years ago called Mouse House Dance. It was dance remixes of some famous Disney songs, but it was really terrible, and produced as a quick fix to fill a genre need. It didn't sound like much effort went into it at all. It was also very expensive at the Disney store in Downtown Disney.

Let me know, I hope many great suggestions await us.

Mouse House Dance's music is still used today: on the ferry to MK, and characters on holiday (at least when they show up in future world north, the graveyard).

Try the National Tour of "Disney's On the Record" the reworking of Disney songs is awesome. Most of the songs are done in away that will surprise you.

if you can find a disney ddr machine there are Japanese techno remixes of some of the theme park music and soundtrack music.
when mp3 filesharing was not monitored as much i got some of them. I really liked the Electrical parade remix, it was just kickin.

The remix of "Pure Imagination" is available on iTunes(iTunes required for the link to work) if someone is interested. Maybe it'll...uh...grow on me? I think it's terrible and will forever be in love with the original songs from the film.

It's also worth noting, since it was ambiguous in the first post, that "Pure Imagination" and the whole of the movie soundtrack are not attributable to Disney or to popular Disney lyricists as is the case with, for example, "Chitty Chitty Bang Bang" -- another fantastic musical.

Regarding techno or techno-inspired Disney music, you'll likely be happy with the music available through Dance Dance Revolution: Disney's Rave Mix as previously mentioned. "Mannheim Steamroller Meets the Mouse," may be of interest as well. It's like techno made by a Commodore 64. I remember liking "The Ballad of Davy Crockett" on that album, in particular.

You can hear a lot of redo's/remixes of some classic Disney movie songs while waiting for Fantasmic! to start. There are even some non-Disney songs redone for Disney (Living La Vida Mickey and the fab five version of Mambo # 5 come to mind). I have heard there is a CD of these songs, but I don't know exactly where they are sold... :(

Mouse House was pretty horrid in comparison to some other albums...

My favorite is Hyper Techno Disney -- definately one that even the disney-hating trance/dance fan can appreciate. Some lean more towards Jock Jams (everybody's heard that a bit too much at every sporting event and morning show -- "ARE YOU READY FOR THIS?!"), but it's mostly "inspired-by" rather than straight covers. They really dug deep in the vault for some of the songs, as it includes such classic album songs as Mickey and Minnie on a Moonlit Night (which oddly includes a sample from Howdy Doody), Ducks Dance, Too, and Macho Duck. Main Street Electrical Parade is also included...

And speaking of MSEP, that's the source of another great remix album -- DJ Digs Main Street Electrical Parade. Album of nothing but remixes of MSEP -- including a jazz, a swing, and a j-rap cover.

What I've heard of the Eurobeat Disney albums aren't too bad... still need to get those.

The Dance Dance Revolution: Disney Mix is ULTRA-hard to find. If you're only interested in the music, get the 2 CD set -- can get it at most import stores for about $15 or less. The 2nd CD is a non-stop mix. :)

Oh, yeah... speaking of imports: all of these albums that I mentioned are Japanese releases, so they will probably cost a bit more. But they're worth it -- we get cheesey albums while Japan gets albums you wouldn't mind playing in a real club. :(
