I have a question for any cast member about the traditions class that everyone has to go to. How tedious is it. Will it be the most boring 8 hours of my life, or will it prove some what interesting? Thanks for any help.

It's the Disney indoctrination class... you'll be fed the usual corporate propaganda that any company will teach you, on top of Disney's policies and procedures and basic safety

I would suggest that if you expect it to be boring it will be.

I would also suggest that your attitude leaves something to be desired. A new employee of ANY company should be excited about a new adventure.

The vast majority of persons here would LOVE to take the Traditions class, even though we probably know a good percentage of the materila already.

Your whining and complaining is way out of line.

Humility and an open mind go a long way.

I hope not all CMs are as excited to make my upcoming trip as memorable experience as you two jokers.

Don't get me wrong. I'm thrilled to be workiong for Disney and I can't wait to go to my Traditions class, I just didn't know what to expect. Trust me I plan on being one of the most excited cast members you'll ever meet.

If you know a lot about Disney (like I do) it does seem a little boring at times when they say "We have 4 parks" and they start talking about what they're like. You will learn new things, but it's pretty much to get you used to the company and learn more about it. Let me just say don't expect it to be one big party...but it's definitely informational.

They do this because not every future CM knows a lot about WDW and Disney....they have to get the novices up to speed.

I found it to be a lot of fun. If you do know a lot about Disney beforehand, then you may not get as much out of the class as some people but it still is a lot of fun to learn all about the company's rich history.

You'd be AMAZED how many new Cast Members know NOTHING about Disney at all. Traditions is necessary. I think maybe everyone should go through regular Traditions and then those that need more Disney lessons could go through a follow-up class before heading to their park's or resort's specific classes.

I know I will get some comments for this, but Traditions was perhaps one of the most disappointing parts of my experience at Disney. For a long time, I had heard how long and almost intense it was, but my session was simply not very good. It supplied a very small amount of cursory information about random facts. Very little was said about the parks (except that there are 4 of them), the example situations were trite at best, and there was almost no history or relevance shared. I guess it was boring to me because it felt like an 8 hour cheerleading session with no substance when it should have been two or three days of formal presentation on why we are here doing what we are doing. Most of my group (which included Disney vets and people that knew NOTHING about the resort) felt it felt like a waste of time to me.

Having said that, I wish it would be longer and more adult in presentation. I think it depends a lot on your leader, though.

my traditions class was pretty nice...it was all CPs so maybe they did it different. Watched alot of videos (some of them were pretty good) played games while still going over all the info.
