So, I got to go as a guest of a friend who was invited to the VIP Mummy party last night.
The event was from 8pm until 11pm, and we each got 3 free drink coupons (good for beer, wine, or soda....no rum
) and he got a voucher for a free on-ride photo from the Mummy. Universal also had some buffet tables set up in front of The Mummy with deserts, cheese, and crackers on.
The event was small, probably less than 600 or so ppl, which was great.
Shrek 4-D, Twister, and the Mummy were the only attractions open. We skipped Twister.
Universal had a traditional Egyptian style band playing in front of The Mummy, along with a few very fine lookin' bellydancers (including one dancing with a snake), some stilt walkers, and Some look-alikes from the movie.
We watched the Shrek movie on the way in, and stayed by the Mummy the rest of the evening. The got 4 rides on the Mummy, pausing for a beer/food between each ride.
I had ridden the ride last Sunday (5/16) and I must say they have improved it much. The added some new audio-animatronic charactors, which really add to the ride. They also retimed the falling door (so you don't see it stop) and added more division between room, so that you dont see the light from some fire effects. They also seemed to re-time some of the effects throughout the fast part of the ride, which really kicked the ride up a notch.
I loved the ride when I rode on Dunday, and it is even better now.
We left at about 11 (out of drink coupons) and hit Pat Obrien's until about 1am....I am so tired this morning.
