Toxic Gas Sends Disney Employees to Hospital

Three employees at Disney's California Adventure were taken to a hospital early Friday after one of them mixed two chemicals that released a toxic gas, authorities said.

The worker accidentally mixed a gallon of a bleaching agent, sodium hypochlorite, with 15 gallons of hydrochloric acid in a water treatment system for the Flik's Fun Fare attraction area, said Maria Sabol, a spokeswoman for the Anaheim Fire Department.

The employees were taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where they were treated and released, Sabol said.

What do they mean "accidentally" - accidentally as in thinking the hydrochloric acid was something else or spilling, or "accidentally" as in they were totally ignorant of the results (in which case I cold-heartedly point and laugh at their stupidity).

Well... One "could" spill a few drops maby a alot of drops... but not a whole gallon...

One doesn't have to be a scientist to know that you can't mix chlorides...
With what they did, they could have harmed many others as well...
For this absolutely unacceptable mistake, I would release them A.S.A.P.

Right, which is why I asked if they knew what it was, or if it was a situation in which a bottle was improperly labeled. A few years back at SeaWorld, we had a situation in which a performer accidentally drank fog fluid because someone had used an old water jug to hold the fog fluid and didn't label it. Certainly wasn't the performer's fault... but I don't know what happened to the person who put the fog fluid in the water jug, but IMHO they shoulda been canned immediately. I'm wondering if we're having the same problem here, or if these are the type of morans that will go home and try to mix bleach and ammonia to clean their bathroom more efficiently.

Well, at least no guests were hurt. Granted, because there's barely anyone inside DCA, it would be very unlikely ANYONE would get hurt at all. Stilll say that was a smooth move

Try to mop a bathroom that a kid(boy) uses with bleach. The amminia is already there, as I found out the hard way when the floor started to "smoke". :lookaroun
