Town Square, Main Street USA

What's your favourite part of Town Square? Are there any attractions in the other parks (like Great Moments with Abraham Lincoln) you'd like to see come across to other Town Squares? Who has visited Walt's apartment?

I'm fond of the gazebo in the centre of Town Square at Disneyland Paris. It looked lovely the last time we were there for Swing into Spring, adorned with the penguins from Mary Poppins.

This area! I don't know what to call it...the walkway into Town Square? It just feels very quaint and regal at the same time to me.

Watching Marie interact with guests near the Flag Pole. I remember watching Marie meeting guests as I was leaving and wandering around the Magic Kingdom during my Senior Trip. There's something about the atmosphere and music heard around the area that makes it even better.

I REALLY wish they still had this! What a cool thing to have a Main Street that sells fresh flowers, has a working silent picture cinema, a magic shop and even a tobacco shop! Ok maybe not the tobacco, but many of the things originally there opening day were intended to give the experience of being in the 1900's and sadly were removed! I wish they would bring some of these things back

The purpose of Main St. is and always has been to separate a customer (formerly known as a guest) from their money. On the way in or on the way out the temptations are numerous and run the range from inexpensive to very expensive, ensuring there is something for everyone.

I too miss the two alcoves where flowers, fruits and drinks were sold. These obviously no longer produced the required profit per square foot calculated to be necessary. In their place is more profitable merchandise for purchase all under one long roof.. The only possible bright side is the ability to walk from City Hall to Casey's indoors, out of the rain and possibly cool off during the summer months.

I really love the Barber Shop and being able to meet Mickey Mouse right there when you get there in the beautiful Town Square Theater Building. I love how "grand" Magic Kingdom Main Street is, with it's double height porches, and many turrets, & towers. I think it is wonderful that the two American parks have different identities...it rewards visiting both places.

Paul Pressler was not in charge at the beginning, therefore something he introduced cannot be the way things have always been.

Does anyone remember seeing Mickey waving goodbye to guests as you're leaving Main Street before park closing? I remember this being a thing in the mid to late 2000's.

It's still common in Paris though

We did for our youngest son's first haircut. It was wonderful, they have a package that includes a certificate, a small memento that includes hair trimmings, and an infant set of Mickey Ears with "My First Haircut" embroidered on it. Although they do offer advance reservations they fill up quickly. However they also allow walk-ins, and same day slots if you check with them early in the day. We got there around noon and they had a 3 O'clock opening and we just signed up and returned at that time. It was mid-June. We were there for Black Friday this year and the standby line was out the door(it is a small venue), so we didnt try. They are great with kids and do nice traditional haircuts. Adults got their haircuts while we were there too.

The concept of concentrating stores selling merchandise and food to the customer on the only way in or out of both Disneyland and the Magic Kingdom was in existence long before Paul Pressler. He just escalated the sales strategy to what we see today.
