When we were at Disney is January, the Timekeeper still had the Twin Towers in the show. Does anyone know if they are still there? I'm going back in September and can find out then, but I'm not patient enough.

It is present day that includes the Towers though. The date on the time machine says 2002 and you look up and see the Twin Towers.

Yes, the date displayed during the "present day" New York / Big Apple scene is the present year. It's a small detail that, although usually unnoticed, may benefit from being changed back to 2001 - at least for that duration of that New York shot.

My experience has shown that some people don't even notice the Twin Towers! Granted, the scene is shot at night. On the other hand, some people point with amazement. To my knowledge, this is the only place in the world where the Twin Towers appear on circlevision technology. That is amazing. The scene is shot at night and the helicopter that's filming the scene is flying below the top of the towers, which gives you an idea of exactly how high up those things where. It's really breathtaking.

As for them being removed, it's not possible. Well, okay, it's not "impossible," but doing so would basically mean starting all over from the editing room and creating a nother film.

Cameron Crowe gives his commentary on the Vanilla Sky DVD, which features a breathtaking shot of New York in its climax and conclusion. The Twin Towers are visible in this series of shots. The New York landscape for the film was created digitally, which means any building could be removed from the scene with the click of a mouse. (In fact, many buildings are not in their correct placement, the reason for which I'll keep to myself as it may spoil the plot of the movie for those who have not yet seen it.) 9/11 ocurred between the film's theatrical release and its being mastered to DVD. This means that with today's technology it would have been very easy to remove the Towers from the movie for the DVD version. Mr. Crowe's reasoning for keeping the Towers in the movie was that - someone else had already taken the towers away, and he was not going to do it again. I support this reasoning 100%. :sohappy:

Freak, you're right, thanks for pointing that out! But seeing as how it's the same film, that's what I was referring to. I guess the correct comment would have been, "...this is the only film in the world... which is housed in 2 theaters."

Don't they have Moscow's Red Square in the place of the New York scene in the Paris version?

I haven't seen the movie over there, but I remember reading something about it once.
