How tall is the Hollywood Tower Hotel and why is it this height?

If i'm not mistaken, ToT is 199 ft tall. FAA regulation state that all buildings 200 ft or taller must have a flashing signal light. Imagineers thought this would detract from the overall atmosphere of the attraction. All they did was make it as tall as they could without having to put a light on it.
Correct me if I'm wrong. . . .

199 feet and the reason that it's not 200 feet is that the imagineers would have to put airplane lights on it
