Tower of Terror Theater

I am brand new to the forum, and I hope that I am not breaking any forum rules, but another member thought some of the people on the imagineer forum might enjoy seeing my ongoing project to transform a sliding glass door entrance of my home theater into a Tower of Terror Basement elevator set. Currently the set has nearly 20 individual special effects incorporated, and the list keeps growing. There are many demo videos of the special effect props to be eventually integrated into a scene including simulated rain, bursting steam pipe, exploding, on fire, smoking fuse box, lighted moving elevator dial, moving steam pipe pressure gauge, and a flipping table (see the description and concept of this unique prop on the video). Check out the original thread here

I'm just going to steal was posted in the description of the flipping table description -- you guys here in the Imagineering forum will get a kick out of this.

"So let me explain this unique prop. As I state in the description of this channel, my goal for the Tower of Terror Theater was not only to copy some of the props and story behind the Disney ride, but to expand on the story. This prop represents a step in this direction. For those of you familiar with the story and the ride, YOU have been invited back to become a permanent resident of the Hollywood Tower Hotel. Although the horrific events originally occurred in 1939, the time is NOW, and your invitation is waiting for you. Hence in this video, you will note the old bellhop bell, the vase with wilted roses, the old hotel room key, and the reservation card clipboard sitting idle from the horrific night in 1939 in a failed attempt to continue to stay open. During the planned scene, after the Steam pipe bursts, this, in my expanded story, leads to loss of power generation, leading to a failure of electrical systems and the fuse box "explosion," and finally a total power outage, with all lights on the Tower of Terror theater set, and the failure of the elevator. During the outage of lights, what I call the "flipping table," will be programmed to flip. Notice that after the flip all the 80 yr "old" props that were on the table have now been replaced by current day props since the time is now. There are freshly cut roses in water, a new bellhop bell, a new room key and a new reservation clipboard. YOU are now in the Twilight Zone. Refinements yet to be added on the "old" side of the flipping table include an "old," aged reservation card and lots of cobwebs on the "old" side of the table, and on the "new" side a custom made new reservation card with the specific names of visitors printed on a new reservation card. Today was the first trial of the flipping table with the majority of props attached, and you notice that the table tends to "bounce," after the flip, and we plan to add an additional electromagnet to catch the table top and prevent the "bouncing effect." During the scene, we will also program a very large and loud thunder boom as well as having all lights out to conceal the table flip."
