Touring Plan Question for US and IoA

Hi all. We purchased one-day tickets for US and IoA to use on our October trip. The day we are attending is one of the nights that US is having their Halloween party so US is closing at 5pm. IoA is open until 6pm. So I thought that it would make sense for us to do US first and then switch to IoA so we could stay later there. But now I'm beginning to question if we will be able to ride the attractions we are most interested in if we get to IoA second.

Our #1 ride of interest to the whole family is Spiderman. We also all want to do Men in Black. As for the rest, hubby wants to hit as many coasters as possible while I will be taking the kiddies to tamer rides such as ET, Cat in the Hat, and some shows. Do you think it makes sense for us to do US first and IoA second given the closing times, or will we have trouble getting onto Spiderman if we don't do IoA first? Thanks.

You should be OK. I would do US first since is closes earlier. If wait times are long I would recommend purchasing an Express Pass for one or both parks. You can buy them in the parks once you see if it's crowded.

Spider-Man shouldn't be beyond a 45 minute wait at that point... there is usually a single riders line open, so if it's really busy you could always try that.

I guess I'd do the Studios first - hit Rockit, Revenge of the Mummy, Jaws, and Men in Black... those are the rides that can generate some hefty lines. The only trouble other than potentially Spider-Man over there is Dudley Do-Right's Ripsaw Falls. From midmorning on those lines get ridiculous and remain as such all day... so if you're hellbent on doing Dudley, might want to consider doing Islands first.

Hope that helped!

You are doing the EXACT same thing as we did last year. We bought the one day IoA and US ticket for October 17th I believe, a Friday on a HHN. It worked out great for us

We got to US a little bit before it opened so we could gaurentee we were one of the first in the park. The park remained virtually empty for a while, we did pretty much everything we wanted by 1 or 2. And by everything I mean the Mummy once or twice, the Terminator, Jaws, MiB, Simpsons, Jimmy Nuetron, Shrek, and even the Beatle Juice Show and time to check out the Llucy museum and stop and have some snacks. We then hopped over to IoA and you can either go to your left and start with Suess's landing or to your right for the Marvel area. We started with Suess's landing. We worked our way around the park doing pretty much every ride. We ened with Marvel and Spidermand had about a 40 min wait. Although the crowds will start picking up the closer you get to the HHN time.

You will have no problem with this plan. Just be willing to make it a long day. And if spiderman is your fav, you may want to start with it when you first get to IoA. I hope you have fun, and you will be able to do everything you want to!

Sometimes, people who are going to Halloween Horror Nights decide to spend the day at Universal. I don't know exactly how many, but I would bet quite a few who do this spend most of the day at IoA and head over to Studios in the afternoon before they open for HHN. IoA shouldn't be as busy as the front entrance for the Studios. At least it wasn't on the nights I went last year.

Thanks guys. This is very encouraging. We will absolutely get there before the parks open, and we are planning on staying until closing and then having dinner at City Walk. We're used to long days, and even though our kids are only 7 and 9, they are great walkers and don't tire easily, especially when they're as excited to be someplace as they are to be going on this trip! I'm glad to hear it'll be doable to hit the highlights of both parks in one day.
