My mother remembers a restruant called "Top of The World" in the Contemporary. I believe it was where California Grill is now. I was wondering if anybody remembers it and if anybody has any pictures?

I don't have photos readily available but I actually went there twice on the 80's. It was set up in sort of a Vegas supper club style with a stage in the southwest corner and blackout drapes around the windows. All the tables were oriented for easy view of the stage. One time I was there it was kind of like a cruise ship style review show. The second time I went we saw Tony Bennet perform.

Yep. I remember DH and I dined there in the early 80s. Definitely a grown ups supper club atmosphere with live entertainment. Ah, those were the days.
I stayed at CR in the 80s as a kid but we didn't eat up there. Back then it was possible to actually have an adult oriented restaurant without a bunch of kids running around and the mommie bloggers insisting that their precious little snowflake is so well behaved that it doesn't mess with the environment.

We went to WDW in the summer of 1990. We talked about having dinner at Top of the World to see the Broadway-style review then being performed. Instead we opted for an extra day in the parks. Back then, the two cost about the same!

I do remember!!! Years ago you had to call a week in advance for the Sunday brunch. And we did attend the dinner show at another time they used to have. It was such a great spot. Loved it.

There isn't much out there given that this was before the digital camera era so far fewer photos are online from that era. Here is one scan of a post card that shows the place. You can see part of the stage in the left side of the image and a performer with a guitar right in the middle of the frame. I'm not sure what year this is from because I seem to remember a more blue color palette when I was there but it was so long ago, that means nothing.

LOL! Exactly why my parents (and aunt/uncle) put my cousins and I in the Mouseketeer Club while they went upstairs circa 1981! But I do remember my parents getting very dressed up for this show back in the day (jackets/blazers and dresses).

Yep. If you look at the pictures everyone is dressed up for the most part. It was a different time, but thats something I think WDW could still use more of these days. So much is already geared towards children it would be kinda nice if there were a few adult environments again.
