Top Chef on Bravo

Any watchers? Personally, it's one of our favorite shows...

The third season of Top Chef begins tonight on Bravo at 10 p.m. EST. Last week an all-star benefit show was aired and we were introduced to the cast of season three.

I hope they have a variety of types of chefs this season - as, in my opinion, they had last season. Seeing all the nutritional, Southern, gourmet, etc. chefs competing against each other makes it more interesting.

I'm happy to see Padma back as the host. She's infinitely better than that stale, monotone wife of Billy Joel they had on the first season. And I just love Tom Colicchio. It's good to have one of the critics/judges on a reality show still be respectable. I noticed the guy from "Queer Eye" was a judge on last week's episode. I wonder if he's replacing the guest judge each week? I think it would be unfortunate if he did - I alwasy liked hearing what the guest judge - who usually specialized in whatever the theme was that week - had to say.

Any other fans want to chat about the show?

I hope Season 3 is better than Season 2. But I'm not sure. The Season 3 previews indicate a lot of excess reality show drama...

I'm rooting for Micah because she's South African like me. I always root for South Africans on American reality shows (like Danna on Shear Genius).

I'll be watching Top Chef on delay by a couple days via TiVO!

Programming this usmmer was nuts with "So You Think You Can Dance", "Top Chef", and "America's Got Talent" all on at the same time! Thank goodness for all the replays!

TOP CHEF rocks and I'm looking forward to Season 3! :sohappy:

P.S. What did everyone think of the Season 1 vs. Season 2 cook off last week??? It's amazing to me that, despite being called out on National Television, most of them still seemed to have all the same character flaws they had while on the show! Some people never learn, I guess!

"You could fry my toe and it would taste good!":ROFLOL:
I cracked up when she said that!

Overall a good episode. I was glad to see the guest judge - as I posted above I think it always adds a bit extra to the show. I hope this is something they continue again.

That guy from New York got on my nerves real fast. There's really no one I especially like just yet...

I loved the sushi revisited. I would totally order that if I was at a nice restaurant!

Speaking of nice restaurants, my sister and I ate at one of Tom Colicchio's restaurants in Las Vegas and it was AWESOME!!!:slurp: :D

I agree completely:

Harold: For such a good chef, he was disappointing. His eggs were scary to me, and his duck was not great.
Steven: He was was overly arrogant, but his criticisms of Season 2 were correct. And he cooked really well.
Dave: He was complaining about being bossed around, but his dish was not very successful. Same old Dave.
Ilan: He was afraid to cook duck in two hours, he extremely oversalted his eggs, and he knocked Marcel's mango on the floor. What a top chef.
Sam: He actually complained about people saying mean things about him on internet blogs. Next time, don't be laughing in the background on national TV when a person is being assaulted.
Marcel: He takes the cake. His behavior in the loft was like a bratty six-year-old. I just lost all sympathy that I had for him being attacked.

That said, I was very impressed by two people: Tiffani and Elia. Tiffani is no longer mean. She was mature, friendly, and a great chef. Elia was more true to herself in this episode. She helped Marcel make his saffron foam in the quickfire and she seems to be over her Hawaii attitude.

I agree, DonaldDoleWhip!

On that show it seems best to just keep your mouth shut and C-O-O-K!

It was a great way to get back into the show for the summer run!

This week's show was interesting as we got to know a little about most of the contestants and what makes them tick...or EXPLODE!

Looks like the producers did another great job with the personality mix to ensure we get our fair share of fights, bad-mouthing, and drama! :sohappy:

I cannot stand Guest Judge Anothony Bordain, so let me get that out there right now. I think He's arrogant, plays to the camera, and talks to hear himself. How He can have 2-3 food shows on television at once is beyond me!

That said, I think we got off to a good start and got rid of the weakest chef. Though, at other times they would have stuck by the rules and got rid of the ones who didn't actually complete the challenge!

In my opinion, the show needs to be about cooking REAL food...not snakes, black chickens, and alligators. The ones who picked first in the challenge defintiely had an easier time of it.

Goodbye CLAY....we hardly knew ye!
