- In the Parks
- No
Hey everyone, instead of doing a full blown report, i'm just going to rapid fire some points I had based on this last trip. It is the first time we used our magic key passes, and the first time in several years i've been to DL outside of the Christmas season.
Green is positive, red is negative, black is neutral.
1. some days crowds were light, others it was super busy. No rhyme or reason it was weird.
2. There were more breakdowns and inoperable attractions than usual on this trip. Radiator Springs Racers, Space Mountain Station backup, Matterhorn, MMRR, Roger Rabbit, then of course Splash & Haunted being down for refurb. Incredicoaster was also out for several days (not that I care, the onboard soundtrack is like nails on a chalkboard to me).
3. Broken effects and cutbacks were everywhere as well. BTMRR's final lift scene had no mist, Space Mountain's star tunnel is off, they were only running 2 trains at most at DLRR. Mater is broken in RSR. There are some other big ones that are skipping my mind at this time. These were the most notable broken mechanics, everything else seemed to be working.
4. Soarin over California looked TERRIBLE. The screen was blurry and dim. This was heartbreaking to me, because my reasoning for wanting to go to DL in March was to revisit this attraction. It's like they don't care.
5. Food and wine festival is skippable. There is nothing special about the food carts or items or shows. It left a lot to be desired IMO.
6. I have to add some positive in here. The CM's were by far the most friendly and helpful I've seen them in a very long time. I think we only had 1 bad experience with a rude girl at DCA, which was quickly remedied by another CM who saw and immediately helped us. The entertainers were great as well. They have my heartfelt thanks for being fantastic.
7. Carnation Cafe, Bengal BBQ, the usual quality food suspects were as fresh and good as ever. Can't ever go wrong with a Churro. The main disappointment was with F&W festival.
Some other thoughts:
Going in March I know a lot of refurbishment is going to be taking place. The feel is a lot different, more laid back and less festive, when compared to going in December. But that being said, Disneyland Resort needs a lot of TLC. It's great to see Toontown get a massive refurb, and I do appreciate they're putting in loads of work at HM & Splash, but there is still so much left to be desired. Broken effects are everywhere, Tomorrowland is in near shambles, DCA still feels like a total IP mixup disaster. They supposedly want to invest more in the parks.. well then DO IT. Revamp Tomorrowland, bring new attractions and clean up DCA - there needs to be more going on here. Food and wine felt like lipstick on a pig.
