Tomorrow's Child

Hey, does anyone remember "Tomorrow's Child" that used to be sung in Spaceship Earth? Does anyone know why they took it out? I just downloaded the song, and about 3/4 of the way through, it had the instrumental music you currently hear at the end of Spaceship Earth (when you come to the planetarium thing at the top)

I have also heard a lot of old Epcot music playing in the background at the entrance of Epcot. A lot of these songs are now gone, but I think that is cool.

When Bell broke down, EPCOT needed a new sponsor for Spaceship Earth. AT&T became the official sponsor in 1986, and they needed to change the ending. "Tomorrow's Child" was played in this attraction until 1993 (when the pavilion needed an update). All of the musical scores were remade to create the current version we have today.

As a small tribute, the theme song was played outside Spaceship Earth for the Millennium Celebration, and the song is popular among EPCOT fans.

I have the Instrumental Version downloaded on My computer if anybody wants it. Its about 2 megs I think. At least thats what I got when I typed in "Tomorrows Child" about 2 years ago on napster. I think it's the area music to Spaceship Earth though. Anyway, If you still want it. Just Private Message me or something with the E-mail address. If I get enough requests, to the point where I get sick of e-mailing it, then I'll just put it up here.

Oh, and I also have that "New Horizons" song too. That, I KNOW is the song. "If we can dream it, then we can do it...YES WE CAN YES WE CAN!!!!"

For any of you who are Spaceship Earth fans, there is a web site you can go to: www.intercot.com/edc/
Once you get into the web site, there is a section for Spaceship Earth and it has sound clips and scripts of the ORIGINAL Spaceship Earth back in 1982. There has been a debate about who did the soundtrack first, but many believe it's Vic Perrin, then Cronkite, Jermery Irons. On another posting, some of us were talking about theme songs and Tomorrow's Child came up. The posting was about having another artist do the soundtrack theme. I suggested that if Karen Carpenter (from The Carpenters) was still alive she would be perfect for the song Tomorrow's Child.

I personally love the Jeremy Irons version of the attraction. There are a lot of people who say to me when they exit the ride that they miss Walter! There are many old show scenes that are left in the original ride, but cannot be seen unless you take a behind the scenes tour or if we have to do an evacuation and the lights come on. Sorry!! We rarely do the tours anymore! Only cast members who work the attraction can see most of these old show scenes. I like to show a lot of these scenes when I am taining new cast members there!!! :D
There is one scene that you could see if you looked hard. If you look behind you during the decent back to "earth" you can see part of an old show scene. There is part of an old spaceship located behind you when you looking at the virtual classroom scene (after the current events scene) It is painted black and is very hard to see. The audio-animatronic is still inside the ship!!! I guess the imagineers thought it was too difficult to bring her down. This scene was changed during an earlier rehab.
If you have any other questions about this attraction, please let me know!! I love the ride and I KNOW IT BY HEART!!!!

Did you know??????? Originally when the ride opened......maintenance workers had to turn the cars around up at the Planetarium scene because the cars were not turning themselves correctly!! A guy had to stay up there each day and turn every passenger car!!!

Great Song - IMO it should be put back into the final section of the ride. The music they use now is nice, but it is a long way down with just background music and no dialogue.

Celine would be grat to sing it.

Jeeze, that brings back memories...those kids and the computers...When I went in March, we got stopped right there for about two minutes so (my guess is) a wheel-chair bound person could board and all we heard for those two minutes was that ten second dialogue about the project that they were working on...It got very redundant and myself and the others I was with began acting out the scene.

Of course, this has nothing to do with the topic at hand...I just thought...I LOVE THE PLANETARIUM! Can't you hear the Instrumental Version of Tomorrow's Child Up there? I would have much rather been stopped for two minutes up there.

1st Kid: "Hey, how about a flying car!"
2nd Kid: "How about a flying bee?"
3rd Kid: Ever see bees build a hive?"

2 minutes of that....
:hammer:

Yes! The music at the top of Spaceship Earth is the instrumental version of Tomorrow's Child. When I first heard it, I didn't notice it right away, but I just Downloaded a full version of Tomorrow's Child and the instrumental is at the end of the song

It's good Disney never used famous singers to do attractions' music, that is very un-popular and I like they weren't interested in selling the song by designating it to a famous singer, just the one whose voice fitted best. The problem is: WHO ARE THEY?!

SpaceEarth is the climax of Spaceship Earth - where we see the earth in the planetarium of sort. The score there - you said - sounds like Tomorrow's Child. I can't really make it out.
