Tomorrowland

In the share holder meeting, Bob Iger mentioned a reworking of Tomorrowland in California and possibly Florida. I haven't seen this aspect of his talk discussed much. I think Tomorrowland needs a lot of TLC and would welcome a total land make over.

The Disneyland refurb of TL has been planned for a long time, and it's going to get a new attraction (last I heard it was the TRON coaster, but I'm not sure now). Their EO and Innoventions are going to be out and Autotopia has pretty much become a future expansion plot for a new attraction(s). There's also their People Mover that's been rumored for the TL refurb.

I don't see TDO doing this for WDW TL.

Tomorrowland needs somewhat of a redo for a couple attractions since stitch, and Tomorrowland speedway are attractions that a good amount of people want gone.

COP only needs an update for the final scene.

I really don't thinkTomorrowland really will get a redo for the Magic Kingdom unless TDO is forced to.

From a looks standpoint I think Tomorrowland looks just fine. I would not mind a tweak or two but more than anything, I would like to see SGE changed out, the Speedway updated and CoP given a proper refurb and update.

An update to Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom is much needed. It would be nice if the Stitch re-do was the first in a series of steps... WDW has so much work to do all over the resort. If they don't get to work soon on updating these and adding more substantive attractions to the parks, they will just dig the hole even deeper. Hopefully, Staggs will insist things like this start happening.

I agree it needs some TLC, but it still looks good at night, so my preference would be a clean up but not a redo :lookaroun

So good at night, agreed. So discordant in the full bright sunshine.
I would be thrilled with a clean up and freshening of CoP, the theatres are looking and smelling rather shabby. A total reworking of the last scene would be great!
I would also love to see the Speedway totally removed and replaced with some kind of e-ticket attraction. As it is, it is so noisy, so smelly, and so not Tomorrowland-worthy.
I love TTA, Astro-Orbitors and SM just the way they are.
I could take or leave Buzz (so lame compared to TSMM) but I recognize that almost everyone else loves it.
And I actually like The Laugh Floor.
SGE has been discussed ad nauseum in another thread.

I'm torn. Should they update Tomorrowland (COP, TTA...) or leave it as is, a representation of the nostalgic "land of tomorrow". And what about Future World at Epcot? Should it be updated with more areas showing us new technology now and in the soon to be future?

Future world is a whole other beast. :fork:

Right now it looks like a Shoney's buffet and I'm not too sure they know what to do with it. I know some people have said just change the name from Future World to something else, because of the state it's in theme-wise... If they wouldn't have screwed around with it, it wouldn't be the mess it is now and you wouldn't ave to worry about the name.

COP should be updated, obviously.. at least the last scene.
I don't think TTA needs a lot of changes. maybe a new design for the vehicles?

Question: Has TTA always had those long stretches of boring and rather ugly black painted tunnels (with lighting above)? IMO if you can liven up TTA by adding some more scenery inside of the tunnels and maybe minimize the track noise (not sure if this is even possible) it'd make a huge difference.

Other than that Tomorrowland would greatly benefit from Stitch and the speedway being replaced by something new and exciting be it Tron-related or not. Plus Buzz needs a refurb (mostly paint). TL looks great at night but like many have said, during the day it's pretty "meh" looking. A new color scheme would be nice. There you have it.

Tomorrowland at Disneyland needs a theme update, but has some decent attractions. Tomorrowland at Magic Kingdom needs new attractions, but has a decent theme. Along with Main Street and Frontierland, Tomorrowland has been in the process of refurbishing some of its facades and thematic elements. Buildings have gotten repainted, the planters are getting reworked, and some elements like the rotating ball, the chamber of commerce sign, and the robo-news guy have been refurbished.

I think Magic Kingdom's Tomorrowland could have a slight refresh to not just represent the 30s/40s vision of the future, but also have aspects of other decades without representing just one. I think that some elements can be improved upon with newer technology with LEDs, etc. I'd love to focus once again on the Metropolis of Tomorrowland that unified the entire land. Stitch needs to be replaced, Buzz needs to either be updated or replaced, Monsters will eventually need to be refreshed or replaced. COP needs a major refurbishment if not a dramatic overhaul to include more recent decades that would reinvent the attraction and attraction more guests while staying true to the original idea (even if the original scenes are replaced... it can't stay a museum forever). Space Mountain is fine, but could perhaps benefit from more updates. Both TTA and Astro could be updated. TTA could get new trains and new audio. Astro needs to have the spinning planets return. They stopped working exactly 1 year ago this March 2012. Half the planets were removed in November 2011. No word on their return. Speedway needs to go or be updated to futuristic hover cars or something.

I would most like the Speedway, whatever the retheming or not that goes with it, to go electric. I really enjoy it for the point of view of nostalgia but the fumes are really bad when you get anywhere near it. I would give up the nostalgia for most any retheming that came with the removal of the fumes. I kind of like the sound of the old engines but again I would give that up for the lack of fumes.

I also agree I wouldn't change the whole area majorly but some clean up would be nice and something new to be a big draw for the that land like Buzz was when it openned.

Tomorrow land is my favorite land to walk around at night by far.

I would love to see that as well. While it gets much flack, it is as big a part of a MK style park at the tea cups, or PotC. I would love to see this thing move into the 21 century with electric cars and new styling. They would have to fix the drainage issues before going electric though.
