More detail from my post on the ..."Why no love for the speedway" thread

1.) Change the theme from cars to an alien UFO race where each of the "Spacecraft" can do a 360 degree turn and it accelerates and brakes automatically, so you control spinning, and theme the rest of it appropriately (possibly put it indoors). Yes, the teacups are right next door, but

2.) Convert the cars to electric power, update the styling of the cars, make them more unique...give them modern racecar sounds and effects, and make the cars light up at night with LED effects, even give them multi-colored exhaust vents to make it glow like blue flames or something.

Blue Sky:

Remove the actual speedway entirely.... then, near the Arcade create a scaled down speedway but make it remotely controlled 1/6 scale cars with 360 degree cameras inside each. Set up a virtual racing area with mini-circlevision, a control seat and steering wheel, and there's some effects that can be added in using augmented reality.

So there will still be a tomorrowland speedway, more futuristic, it will be easier to update the cars and the rest of the old speedway property can be used for more attractions and the separation between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland will be more complete.

We should give the speedway a NASCAR theme with the cars looking like the cars in the Daytona 500. You'd have the cars of Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, etc.. They would be converted to electric power and have LED lights like you said. Another detail would be to add hidden Smellitizers to give an artificial exhaust smell. Hidden speakers would also be added to give the sound of exhausts. This is what I'm doing in The Magic Kingdom, Disneyland Anaheim, in a way, Tokyo Disneyland, and Hong Kong Disneyland.

The problem with the speedway is that auto racing isn't futuristic, it's modern and just there. They'd have to get rid of that theme. DL avoids this by just calling it Autopia.

The basic concept behind the ride is that kids can drive, and well in their future, they will be able to! So I say make it more like Autopia, make it a somewhat futuristic landscape with cool looking cars.

But if nothing else, THEY HAVE to make the vehicles electric and add security features.

Have the cars from demolition man used,

Switch to the trackless system that is used in the hunny hunt. Put solar panels on top of the cars as an alternative energy source.
