im curious as to what people think of tomarts pin guide

personally i fell that though it is a valiant attempt, it leaves a bit to be desired.

while the pix of the pins are good, the numbering system is aweful. they also really need to have some sort of cross reference. im still trying to find the backstage magic pin, which is on the cover of the 4th addition.

one other thing i would like to see from tomart, or someone, is pin collecting software with quarterly, or so, updates. i would be more than willing to pay a modest fee for that.

My son began collecting pins a few trips ago and we have many which the CMs are telling us to make sure that we save b/c they are valuable. Do you know of a good guide book that we can purchase to keep track of the pins that he trades and buys? Thanks for your help! It is very much appreciated! :animwink:

I stumbled across this on eBay this week. I have no idea about how useful this software package would be for you, but thought I'd point you to it since you asked.

Try this Cheryl. It's impossible for it to stay current, even if it was printed every month, given Disney's constant release of new pins.

But we find it very handy as a "checklist" for our collection.

that looks interesting, but what id like to see, and tomart would prolly be the best to do it, would be somethijng like the comic book software i used to use. it was updated quarterly with new issues and new values, so you were always kept up to date.

Thank you so much! I'll check out the guide and the websites! We purchased a bunch of them off Ebay so that my son can trade some when we go down to Disneyworld in July. He's going to flip! Thanks again!!

Those are some REALLY good sites. In fact the best in my opinion. I use them every day, looking up new pins, cross referencing pins against the ones on ebay. They are always current. About software www.disneyana.com has some software specifically for pin trading. It isnt out yet but its coming out soon. Kinda like that program that was on sale at ebay, but just for pins. And the other thing I do is at www.download.com there is a free trial for MetaProducts Offline Explorer Pro. It is a 30 day trial or $70 to buy. And it will download a whole internet site and allow you to read and move through it as if you were online. I dl'ed pinpics and dizpins. However the search option from pinpics does not work with offline explorer and not all of the pics of pins from the dizpins archives were downloaded. But other than that it is a great way to research pins.
