Al Lutz put up this note on the front page of Miceage.com today.

"Editor's Note 1/24: If you see DCA Vice President Mary Niven practicing her lines as she paces out her steps through the park on Monday, don't bother her. She's rehearsing for the big tour she's going to give new Parks Chairman Tom Staggs on Tuesday during his first official visit to the Anaheim property. The corporate PR campaign following Tom's visit will be, alas, extensive. - Al Lutz"

First, the image of some exec rehearsing her tour of DCA just makes me chuckle. Do they really go to that level of nervous frenzy over visits like this? Wouldn't an exec who theoretically already knows their stuff be able to give a tour of the park they are in charge of without rehearsing it beforehand? How odd. I don't know who I feel more sorry for, the park execs who feel they need to rehearse a park tour, or Tom Staggs who perhaps unknowingly causes such a ruckus and waste of time.

I wonder if Tom's first visit will be covered in the OC Register and such?

That might be Miceage putting their spin (:hurl: ) on it, but I don't doubt it... Management just view this as their cushy job. :( There's no passion for the company, for Disney, for the name, anymore. :(

From the Disney Parks Blog-
http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/bl...world-of-color”-on-tour-of-disneyland-resort/

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs is no stranger to Disneyland Resort. Not many people know this, but he and his wife enjoyed their wedding rehearsal dinner at the Golden Horseshoe in Disneyland in 1996, and through the years this Southern California family has enjoyed countless days of fun together at the parks. His three sons were probably expecting to hear stories about Dad riding their favorite attractions the past few days, but this was Tom’s chance to spend time with frontline cast members learning first-hand about operations of the Resort.

Earlier today, Tom toured Disney’s California Adventure park where he saw the control room for the new water extravaganza “World of Color” – a technological marvel with 1,200 programmable fountains on a one-acre grid. He also visited the construction site for Cars Land, the new 12-acre expansion inspired by the blockbuster Disney-Pixar movie, “Cars.”

I met Tom Staggs at the Napa Rose last night while I was having dinner. He’s a very friendly and approachable guy. Here’s what he had to say about his visit: “The thing that most impressed me was how passionate everyone is, and how proud they are of the Disneyland Resort. They’re working to make the future of the parks even better, but they’re also focused on honoring the history of being the original Disney theme park.”

Al Lutz put up a blurb on Miceage that sums up Tom's visit nicely I think...

Editor's Note 1/28: New Parks & Resorts Chairman Tom Staggs has concluded his first official Disneyland Resort visit, and the Anaheim executive team pulled out all the stops for him over the last two days. After years of being ignored by an icy Jay Rasulo who had zero interest in the parks, Tom Staggs has impressed everyone thus far with his genuine interest in Disneyland's operation and expansion plans. Tom will return to Anaheim soon, but for now all the TDA suits can relax. - Al Lutz
