Tom Sawyer Island NEW rehab date annouced

Original date was changed here is the new date.

Tom Sawyer Island will be closed for refurbishment Sunday, July 25 through Saturday, September 25, reopening Sunday, September 26, 2004

i get there on saturday July 24 I have to go to Tom Sawyer Island. Ive never been on it. What is it like, ive been 3 times and never once did i go to TSI.

They (plastic horse union 305) prefer the term animatronic to plastic

I prefer the plastic (animatronic) chickens.
They're better than sitting in the tower and getting ear drum damage from the rifles shooting the "river pirates"

Im thinking the fact its surrounded by water, natural plant life and trees the caves can hold in moisture etc just needing cleaned.

I dont think they pressure wash the island everday like they do the rest of the parks

1. No, there has not been a TSI rehab since 1996 or 1997, the last time we drained the river.

2. The question is not really so soon as why has it been so long. It really needs some TLC.

As with most other things in WDW, TSI could definately use a tad bit of sprucing up. I'm glad to see Disney's showing it some attention.

Nope you cannot get on the island legally when it gets dark. The island closes at Dusk.
