Tokyo Disneyland Profits Drop

78%??? That's a HUGE amount. I know times are hard for everyone, but geez...

Just curious, who are the primary guests to visit TDL? Is it more of a local thing (like DL) or do they get a lot of foreign tourists?

Mostly Japanese, yeah. If you want to get technical, I'd say about... 75% high schoolers on field trips, 10% couples on dates, 10% families, 3% people trying to be seen, and 2% tourists.

But that's just my guestimation.

Now, as for profits falling... that doesn't surprise me in the least. The parks are way too pricey, anyhow.

I expected to have to re-mortgage my house for a few keyrings but everything seemed price like your average tourist attraction.

I visited in August and again in October. The demographics were much wider than at WDW, where most guests seem to be families with young children. At Tokyo I saw lots of young women - often in small to medium groups - older women in groups, some families, tons of couples, a few school groups, and a couple other foreigners. I hung out a bit with a brother and sister in their 20s. It was her birthday. I must say that it was more enjoyable having that varied demographic than just families that look like clones.

Admission is cheaper than WDW or DL. I found food to be about the same. Getting to Tokyo is a bit of a chore, but once there it's a better experience and no more expensive I found.
