tokyo dining

We just returned from our disney vacation and miss it already:cry: As usual we had the disney dining plan and were very pleased with our choices of restaurants until...Tokyo Dining!!

Last year we tried Teppano Eddo , food was good but was extrememly loud. We thought Tokyo dining would be more "zen"...wow what a mistake. The minute we received our table, we noticed the constant volume of loudness (it made Crystal Palace look like Tea room). Once we sat, the waitress provided us the menus, we said we were in no rush but would like to have a glass a wine and a few beers to digest the menu. The waitress returned with the drinks and then ask if we were ready to order. We said no and to give us some time, 1 minute later she returned. This went back and forth for about 8 minutes until we caved and ordered a appetizer (thinking she would leave us alone for a bit and by the way, not part of our dining plan but were willing to pay for). After 2 minutes of receiving our appetizer and she can back asking if we were ready to order the entrees....we explained we would like to enjoy our appetizers. She left...5minutes the waitress came back and Insisted we order our entrees NOW.

This whole ordeal happened in a time span of 20 minutes of sitting down at our table. I understand Disney needs to feed the masses but I would expect to be rushed in the Magic Kingdom, where it is family oriented and geered to get people in and out. But Epcot is a more relaxed atmosphere and adult oriented. I don't get it, on top off it , it is not like we had water and ate the free bread, we order items that were not part of dining plan and were willing to spend more.

At one point we pointed out the volume of the place but to no avail. Has anyone ever experience this before at Disney??

We have never receive this type of treatment at any of the Disney restos. I am tempted to write a letter to the head honchos at Disney to make them aware of this type of treatment goes beyond their motto..Should I?

One thing to note, Disney is not the owner or operator of that restaurant. They rent the space to Mitsukoshi who handles all restaurant operations. You can certainly write a letter, but in the future you should request to speak to a manager right then and there. It is hard to handle complaints like this in a restaurant after the fact, and you would have had more success voicing your concerns then.

While the specifics were different, we to received very poor service at our first and last visit to Tokyo dining as well. We had an ADR for a rather large party and we were told that we would need to sit at 2 different tables. No biggie, we expected that. The first part of our party was sat and they completely forgot about sitting the other half. When I pointed out their error the seemed hell bent on sitting us at a particular table. The party at that table was really taking their time and while table after table around this one cleared, other guests were being sat. I again pointed out the problem to no avail. The party at our apparently extra special table finally left and we sat just in time to see the other half of out party get their check. Not the first thing was done to make up for this problem. The food being incredibly lack luster did not help the situation much either.

We need time for things to happen.
Tokoyo Dining

We didn't have a bad service experience but the food was below average.
I live in a tiny little town in CT and there is an Asian Bistro that of course serves all types of Asian fare and their Japanese is head and shoulders above Tokoyo Dining.

We didn't bother complaining to the manager because it seemed like it was the manager doing the pushing. At one point, he gather a few waitresses together and it appeared he said the words, "go go go of some sort in japanese" to his staff.

That ok..just won't dine there again

I am so sad to hear about this! Tokyo Dining is usually a must do, we have never had pushy service and the food was always fresh and delicious. I would share my concerns with them, if for nothing more than to bring it to their attention.

I'm sorry to hear about the less than stellar dining experience. Thanks for sharing this. I use a lot of people's opinions when forming my family's dining plans for our upcoming trip/s.
